2009- The Year of broken Dreams

If I go back just a couple of months, I can remember the outright excitement I had about the year. I thought that 2009 would be the year of Prince, Unfortunately, those hopes have faded.

I can't complain about the CD set. To me, it was great. I loved Lotus and Elixir from the get go, and MPLSound is slowly growing on me. Still, that doesn't make up for what I was expecting.

When I first signed up for the website, I had high expectations. At first, they were met. However, he has had the same 20 or so videos available since around week two. I sign on every 4 or 5 days hoping for new stuff; I am always disappointed when I see "loading x of 49 thumbnails." I would love to see that 49 increase. Furthermore, I will not be getting the t-shirt in time to wear it when I go to my hometown. It may sound petty, but it is disappointing to me.

What really gets me is the concert thing. I was expecting a decent summer tour. With his releases and media blitz, it seemed likely that it would happen. I live in the northeast, so I thought I would be able to hit a couple of shows. It is now mid-May and there is no summer tour in sight. He has done gigs that are highly inaccessible. Now he is going to be playing in Europe; that is even more inaccessible.

I realize that everything can turn around. The site could pick up and he could do a winter tour similar to the One Night Alone tour. Still, I find this highly unlikely. Oh well.

He's going to play in Europe? Are you referring to the rumors that he'll be at that jazz festival in Switzerland, or are there other plans?

A summer tour would have been nice, but i'm still thinking it might happen in the fall/winter.

The economy is crap and the Buzz about the CD is over. I highly doubt there will be a tour.

can't blame Prince for those expectations and disappointments. they're yours.

and lotusflow3r.com is only a month and a half old. we had an instant reward for joining, in the three albums. surely it's only fair for Prince to milk them for a while before, hopefully, putting something else up for download, and/or concert ticket perks.

come the end of march 2010, if nothing else has appeared, then i'll be the first to express my disappointment (actually, i'll probably be the 3,121st), but then nothing was actually promised outside of what's actually there already, so if i'm unhappy then i've only myself to blame - thrice bitten. and remember, those supposed 10 cds of vault stuff wasn't promised, but hinted strongly at by the web staff, not Prince himself and not part of the agreement.

but as a glimmer of hope...

Year of broken dreams? Jesus Christ. Over dramatic much?

2009-Year Prince fans acted like hardcore Michael Jackson fans.

Broken dreams? LOL Easy tiger, life goes on regardless of Prince putting out another shit CD or not.

But it is the year of broken promises. I'm frankly surprised folks got their tshirts.

rolleyes learn to quote properly.

and read your initial post again. you're blaming your own disappointment at things that have never been promised in the first place on Prince and his actions (or lack of them, as you seem to think). your comments about 'inaccessible' concerts show this.

Prince's music should be a pleasant embellishment of your life, not the controlling factor.
