What an arrogant comment... He's got some great songs, funny lyrics, groovy beats...

Yes,and he also has lyrics about raping his mother, killing his ex-wife and songs where he disses other celebrities rolleyes If you like that stuff, more power to you but that's not MY cup of tea.

But its okay to write about doing your sister, or poking at MJ or Missy...hmmm to mention a few... P talks about people .,,,just under radar, The differnce with E he puts it out there and mostly things that have been talked about one way or another. Actually I feel he just says what on his mind, as we all can can have some f-up thoughts. I know I have and had to cast them done... He speaks his mind ....maybe too much.

Unfortunately everyone seems to be missing the point of this thread: the new Eminem video has absolutely, positively no references of any kind to Prince. This is just made up nonsense that people are fighting about. The video mocks Jessica Simpson, Kim Whateverhername is and others but NO Prince parody.

UGHHHHH.

I think the question was over looked cause of how irrelevant Eminem is to most of the orgers who responded.
I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh

no, because prince is not an important figure in popular culture today.

however it doesnt mean that prince is not more talented than all those other's he mentions on his videos, he's just not in the mainstream, he is an underground figure and a nostaglia figure for those who like the 80's. Of course he is (mostly loved by a hard core group of fans - but I think even that is diminishing over time as his music steadily declines and we are struggle to finde reasons to like his new songs).

in saying that, if eminem's new record does not sell very well, he too will be a distant memory of pop culture, and he doesnt really have prince's talent and diversity to keep him going, so he must be crapping himself.

Who cares? Prince knows he ain't a rapper. Femmy doesn't seem to know that no one cares about his corny videos and hitting what someone described as "soft targets". He's a bad ass because he attacks Moby? Nsync? Kim Kardashian? Ohhhh such a big wig. Who's next? Nuns? Mother Teresa? Princess Diana?

Underground figures do not get to play the Superbowl Halftime show. Due to his touring he has also been one of the best-earning entertainers during this decade.

Prince hasn't been an "underground figure" since his very first albums.

Rave reviews from who? Hip Hop critics? His last album was five years ago, OF COURSE they're going to "look forward" to a release. They want to see if he's lost his Weird Al style of lyrically delivery, and what soft target he's going to lambast on another song. Oh, hey I hear Farrah Fawacett is doing badly these days. Maybe he'll joke about her near-death state of having anal cancer. That's always cool to the kids, ain't it?

And listen, I'm not here to convince you of anything about Feminem. I think he's a freakin' JOKE. If you dig him, more power to ya. There's room for everyone here.

Eminem has made a career out of making fun of, and mocking other people. Prince doesnt' need to do that.

Prince is an artist. Eminem is simply a "shock and awe" here today, gone tomorrow punk.

Eminem need not be mentioned in the same breath as Prince.

Who's Eminem going to insult next? In fact, who hasn't he insulted? That's his only claim to fame.

An artist? If Eminem is an artist, then let me be an artist too for a minute.

Here goes...

"Your mother just sucked me off." Now let's put a beat to it.

There, now I'm an artist!

Enough said.

I'm sure prince must be jealous about eminem's success and money. he is way richer than prince and sells more albums. on his website you can download free unreleased songs whenever he has some (and he has plenty). talking about relevance, eminem is more relevant nowadays than prince. or do you think people appreciate what he did with youtube and audiogalaxy ? prince is arrogant. but, I'm a fan nevertheless for his great music.

I agree that he is a complete joke and I can't personally stand the guy's voice. I don't find him "intelligent" or that he would be a "serious artist" like often claimed.

BUT he did get rave reviews from the music press all over the world. I used to read pretty much any music mag on a monthly basis in the library during his peak (well, at least I used to read the reviews that interested me).He did get a lot what I'd even call "praise", just like Prince used to get back in the day - yet I think Eminem used to be able to escape the few bits of negative criticism more effectivel than Prince ever did. He was highly acclaimed critically during that era, even the record "Encore" was still able to get a rather warm response from the press. Although his fame was vaning by that point.

Frankly speaking, I just found that baffling. I thought his take on "serious artistry" like "Stan" were just naive and embarrassing at best. I remember sort of liking one song by him though, "Criminal". That's about it.
