IS PRINCE A NARCISSIST OR JUST MISUNDERSTOOD? Narcissistic personality disorder is a condition characterized by an inflated sense of self-importance, need for admiration, extreme self-involvement, and lack of empathy for others. Individuals with this disorder are usually arrogantly self-assured and confident. They expect to be noticed as superior. Many highly successful individuals might be considered narcissistic.
Vulnerability in self-esteem makes individuals with this disorder very sensitive to criticism or defeat. Although they may not show it outwardly, criticism may haunt these individuals and leave them feeling humiliated, degraded, hollow, and empty. They may react with disdain, rage, or defiant counterattack. Or is Prince just an overachieving, innovative strategist with a system of thinking and foresight that surpasses the average joes comprehension thus leaving Prince a misunderstood although highly successful individual?

Prince Loves with Humility. In my personal opinion. Prince's great talent requires personality responsibilities I don't think any of us could understand.
I believe with all of my heart that Prince is empathetic...Prince just can't possibly physically hug all of those people that he lured to love him...If Prince doesn't hug me though...I'm gonna sue him. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

I will take that as a compliment. Prince loves run on sentences...they remind him of how love runs on and on and on and on.

Total "N" and it's nothing to love in him, it drove him to stardom but i'm sure it compromises him in relationships that matter- and that dont mean us, really he's not that into us LOL.

Whatever, it's been working for him for over 50 years. More people need to get some of it!

more of a user than anything. No real ties unless it suits him. And everything is someone else's fault, not his. Many of the orgers are enablers in that regard...

wow... I think this is an interesting perspective. A narcissist may be self absorbed but not necessarily inconsiderate of others or dismissive of their worth. A user on the other hand would only consider how another might benefit him or her and takes no personal responsibility. They are both self absorbed and inconsiderate. The former requires nothing from an orger...the latter, well... a user if Prince is indeed one, depends on orgers desparately.

This is very a very complex subject...and yet it's not fair 2 judge which 1 he is but if were 2 choose 1 4 him it would b the misudnerstood 1. Prince is a very strange person 2 figure out at once...but the answer must lie in his music and his life.

wouldn't it b more of the so called napolean complex? man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

^but that's only a short thing. I think Prince would be the same even if he were tall, which means there's something else going on in his brain other than the need to prove you can play with the big boys.

Pinocchio complex is a mental disorder characterized by an incessant need to control everything in one's orbit through lies, manipulation and hypnosis. Persons exhibiting this rare disorder are usually small in stature, large in ideals, gifted in the arts and/or philosophy and have piercing yet beautiful eyes with a reported hypnotic gaze. Persons who have encountered Pinocchio types state that within five minutes they have emptied their bank accounts, dropped their drawyers and signed contracts for which they receive absolutely no benefit. Pinocchio syndrom leaves its victims of the impression that they are well endowed when clearly they are not.
