Nope

I may be wrong, of course, but it clicks exactly when the music starts and after the click there's a sec of static or a click echo/delay on the right channel. Sounds like a studio-made switch to me, just my two cents.

It doesn't even sound like a switch, it sounds like a horrible pop in an electrical cord. I get the timing of the mishap, but it's just a happy coincidence.

We're simply discussing a technical point.

Does this make you angry? Why do you feel the need to start calling everybody names?

Some people are actually interested in sound quality and the science behind it, and without any such "losers", you wouldn't have any recorded music at all.

So, why all the hate? Are you just trying to show us that you're a "winner", and not some ridiculous, technically-minded "idiot"?

What has happened to the org? Why has it evolved such a mean spirit?

Has anyone else experienced this? It's on the right channel. It's a bit disconcerting...love the album though!

did u know that on the 3121 CD the first thing Prince says is "from the lotus flower" and then at the end of 3121 he say's it going down like the "wall of berlin" ... the lotus has been around a while.

Holy shit, you're right. Never noticed that. Actually I never understood it. He definitely says that at the beginning and says "wall of berlin" at the end. Interesting.

i assumed it was intentional. meant to sound like a blast of static, like the album is being switched on. if you listen with headphones, it's actually on the right and left channel, but moreso on the right.

And it occurs at the moment the sounds 'trigger off', if that makes sense.

That's what I hear too

You know I truly appreciate it when someone can show me exactly what is going on in the music. I am one of those that always knew certain music moved me deeply, and that I find today's music much more difficult to listen to. It's like I can only take so much of newer music before I have to switch it off, but older music, I can listen to for hours. But also in appreciating music, in being moved by music, I want to learn about all aspects of the music, what goes into it, what makes it move me so deeply, how do they get a certain sound, even where the musical gaffes might be and what causes those, because it enhances my appreciation for the art even more.

I do want to add, that those that have contributed knowledge and information about the "click", have done so in a very respectful and appreciative manner. If you have a problem with someone passing along some knowledge to those of us that might not have that knowledge, then just don't post, ignore it. No one said you had to post. And resorting to name calling? That only reflects poorly upon you, no one else.

So to those that added educational information, and to PsychedelicGoof (who gave a visual presentation of what he was talking about), thank you so much. It helps me to understand a little better about what goes into putting this kind of art out there for the public to enjoy. It helps me to appreciate the music even more, warts and all. wink

Well, no-one asked you either - but, since you've so enthusiastically joined the debate, shall we see what you can bring to the table? What exactly is your expertise? Thoughtless swipes, by the looks of things rolleyes

The people who started discussing this anomaly are producers and musicians themselves - perhaps why they picked up on it and perhaps sharing a love, like Prince, for achieving sonic excellence.

Sometimes recording "mistakes" are left in (like some of the SOTT material) as they can add to atmosphere and interest - in this case, it sounds much like a glitch and is a surprise to hear on a recording that's generally of excellent quality.

Yeah, I noticed this also on the download initially and was surprised to hear it on the CD as well. Not a biggie, but noticeable once you hear it. I did a simple cut in Audacity and while not perfect, it's a little less intrusive.
