Okay, music is a big thing in my life (not just Prince), but depending on the conversation, i may bring up that I'm a Prince fan on the first date (though I won't mention my collection). If i had a nickel for every time I got a response like this, I would be a millionaire....

I dated a guy who swore he liked Prince, but he never knew the songs when I played them. I let it go- young and stupid, I thought it was cute he was trying to impress me.
I took him to a show (Roseland, NYC) and he complained the entire time. Then my friends and I went out to eat, and we dissected the show (U know how we do! ) He announced to a table full of Prince fans: "U guys are a bunch of f@#$%^& geeks!" AND HE HAD NO MONEY TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE BILL!

A lot of people I have met have either thought Prince was a great guitar player, or don't know much more than..."Purple Rain." Unless of course they are my friends and have gotten their Prince...education.

This isn't a dating moment but I was in a seminar at work and the presenter asked us to name an artist whose concert we would like to attend. I named Prince. A guy in front of me turned around and mumbled, "I like his older stuff..."

I wanted so badly to ask, "Have you listened to any of the "newer" stuff...like anything after Purple Rain???"

Actually, I should cut him some slack...he probably heard Kiss.

I was so embarrased because people were turning and going at us. I was so pissed I just got out the car and ran down the street.
