Prince is like most short guys I know: What he didn't develop in stature/height was transmitted as very good-looking features on his face. And he's a sharp dresser. That's just about it. From the neck down on the other hand, he could still be considered "ugly" by many people, due to his smallness/height, hairiness, and lack of muscularity.

As an opposite example, I've heard some of my older female relatives speak about how they were never attracted to Prince, but have stated how "gorgeous" they thought Jackie Jackson was in the 70s and 80s. Now facially, many of U may call Jackie "ugly" since his features are not stereotypically "pretty" like Prince. But unlike Prince, his body was darn-near perfection (and he has a beautiful smile/perfect teeth), which is why so many women still thought he was physically "sexy" and not "ugly" at all.

My overall point is: Prince is not immune from being called "ugly" by people just because he has a cute face, which is why many people have thought and still think he is NOT physically attractive. I would never call him that however, considering I don't advocate the use of that word as a description of any human's physical look. U can ridicule and call someone "ugly" today, then go outside the next morning and get injured by something, and consequently live with horrible features yourself. That has never happened to me, but I've seen that happen to others, so I've always refrained from using that term. Everyone has some sort of physical beauty that someone finds attractive. What matters though is how beautiful your mentality is.

And to answer the topic's question: If I didn't think Prince was physically "adorable" when I first saw him, yes, I would STILL be a hardcore fan of his music. His looks have nothing to do with my fascination of his skills as an artist. He would be like....I don't know....Jackie Chan to me. I'd still LOVE his work and collect his art, but just never would have dreamed about him.

the title of this thread should be "what if prince wasn't ugly" because if he looked like Sting or something he would get more respect

I think Prince's looks have had a major impact in his success. But, I also think that Prince knows how to use things to his advantage, and he would have figured out something to make himself stand out even if he were "ugly". We'd still know Prince.

His tremendous good looks are a bonus for me and he would still be just as great cos its the music that matters the most. I'm sure it has helped though but probably not as much as you would think.
