I agree with folks who say this album is underrated. I feel it suffers from association with the film, it cheapens it as does the horrendous album cover. Overall though I feel it is a very sophisticated album,possibly even too ambitious, a none Prince fan may even see it is as being incohesive. Songs such as We can Funk are fantastic as they just build and build and also it was the only instance where I can bare to listen to the Time

For me,this album is a mixed bag.There are three songs that I really like....

"Thieves In The Temple"
"We Can Funk"
"Can't Stop This Feeling I Got"



The other songs aren't terrible,but Prince can do better.

"New Power Generation" is boring R&B,and a poor song to start the movie with...."The Latest Fashion" is uninspired filler....I don't really care for "Release It",either.
