jazzz said: I went to seen the Nude tour in Rotterdam. It was the worst Prince concert I've ever been to (went to see most of his Dutch concerts, starting with SOTT, which was the best, followed by Lovesexy and ONA).
First there was some weak opening act (some girl from Australia I remember), and when it was Prince's turn to perform, some VERY dark clouds gathered above the arena. It started raining soon after, and the show was shortened to about 60 minutes. At some point Prince got a big splash of water on his head....we where affraid that he would get electrocuted. Worst concert because of the weather being bad? Please look beyond that. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

`Nude` was very memorable. The Rotterdam opening. (rain, Maastribune),
2nd show there (field). Werchter. (great weather, cool video! nice Wallonians bringing me to Leuven; wait there for the first train to...) Heerenveen. Weird venue, cool show. A show in Dortmund. Trip by bus. Lois Lane opening. Saw a taper... Cool show. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

He had the songs. He had the outfits. His stripped down sound was fresh and funky. I love the NUDE tour. Yep. Tony, Damon and Kirk were cool too. Not too much like maybe the Act I tour. Rosie was sexy, Levi and Miko were on fire. Prince was balanced too. He had his cool stage moves, not like some of the later hip-hop style posturing like he's Eazy-E with a guitar. The best Prince tour ever. Naturally Prince will never release the tapes officially. "Levi"..."Prince"... "I've got a brand new dance"

Prince won't release tapes.
I cannot hint you towards asking a band member if you know them in some way, so I won't do that. BTW: Why weren't those D&P rehearsels in Ghent never released on CD? Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Shortening the show because of the rain was a big let down. I went to see the (first) show on the 2nd of june. But the beginning was great. The future, 1999, housequake. I still have that opening somewhere on Video (was broadcasted on Countdown.)

But to answer the question of the topic. The concert i went to was not cool, it was cold (and wet).

Sure you can't compare it to other tours because it wasn't SOTT/Lovesexy/whatever, but the Nude tour was for those who went to a P concert for the first time (me included).
Having said so, Prince please come back to La Coruna, we need another show! "La Coruna tell me what you wanna do" "paaaaarty" [ keep dreamin', ] Lion -- Go Peter go!!

Yeah I remember this gig as I was soaked to the bone and it was cut short due to the heavy rain & lightning... great ticket stub though featuring a full colour pic in Gemini costume from the Partyman promo.

I was lucky to see basically a preview show before the tour started..it was at the St.Paul Civic center..the concert was announced only 2 days ahead and tix were only around 10 bucks....it felt more like an open rehearsal because the volume was turned way low....the highlights for me was opening with "the purple medly" and he did his version of "Nothing compares 2 u" [Edited 5/11/09 18:20pm]

[Edited 5/11/09 18:20pm] Purple medley? No, but it did open with bits and pieces of different songs. Opening with the Purple medley was done during a later tour.

Yeah, back in the days, when concert tickets were designed for the concerts (tours) individually... Xenophobia, this is where you come in... [Edited 5/12/09 14:29pm]

Lots of Soundboard Bootlegs. The not-so-good thing about the Nude tour: The sterile, sample-heavy musicianship in the performances and the ho-hum set-lists. Though, Bambi was dusted off for the tour, so it had that going for it. I tend to agree with you there...it wasn't a patch on 88 for me.. Yep, me 3. It was a real let-down after the previous 3 tours I'd seen. Of course, it was still a lottta fun - it was a Prince concert! I went to 3 shows and had a ball. I enjoyed Rosie, but missed the previous band members.
