you can't be serious... Oh I'm quite serious. NPGMC stuff is totally unlistened to. Musicology was just weird and unimaginative. 3121 was a good CD overall. TRC is utter hate and garbage. Stuff like ONA, N.E.W.S., ONA Live...who cares.

Well hey...to each his own. It seems I'm in a minority on the Org with that sentiment, but that's the beauty of free thought, I suppose. In the past, I could name every song on every album, in the order, how long they were, knew all the lyrics, etc. Around 1999 or 2000, I started to lose that edge. I just wasn't listening to the music as much anymore, because it was losing its edge to me.

Planet Earth is one of those albums that is not bad but definately not great. It's ok. There is the gem, "Somewhere Here On Earth" that was worth it alone. That's an incredible song. Some songs grew on me like "Mr Goodnight" and that shocked me a lot. I also liked "Planet Earth" and "The One U Wanna C" too. The rest was alright but this is one of those CD's where I'm not rushing to listen to it. I'm also not rushing to rip it into pieces either. It's just a part of the collection and I'm glad that it's there for when I wanna pick it up and play it. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

'Mr Goodnight' breaks my mind. The lyrical content makes me sad but I like it as a song. It has a "demo" sound sort of like 'Player.' it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die

Sadly, Planet Earth is the "Revolutioniest" album he's put out since probably SOTT and for that, I consider it a keeper. Something about the faux Wendy and Lisa harmonies in the record (especially Resolution) make me smile.
Future Baby Mama and Somwhere Here on Earch are also classic 80's sounding "Prince" ballads. There's more MPLSound on PE than there is on MPLSound. [Edited 5/12/09 10:06am]

To be honest, I never listen to Planet Earth all that much. I find it hard to take it seriously as I got free copies with the newspaper and at the gigs.
Seemed like Prince didnt care too much for these songs so why should I. Its all about respect and perceived value. Something you get for free seems worthless, despite what your ears may tell you. My name is Naz!!! and I have a windmill where my brain is supposed to be.....

Me too, Somewhere Here on Earth is my favourite. I listened to "Planet Earth," Yesterday. Just because a new album comes out, that has never stopped me from listening to all of Prince's previous music. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...
