I'm sorry but I love this song. Sometimes it stays in my head all day. This is Prince at his gangster best. Since I'm from an island I wouldn't mind being banished there. I just don't understand all the hate!!! It is on my ipod twice.

i love the fact it's on your i-pod twice! lol does that mean you have to listen it twice every time you hear it, just to convince yourself it is actually any good. 'yeah yeah i think it's good but i'll play it again just to be sure' razz

Sometimes U feel like "clockin' a freak on a low pro, u know discreet!".
I know I do.
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Digital Garden. To me it's as brilliant as When Doves Cry.

eek Just. Wow. IMO, WDC is Prince's best song EVER, and Digital Garden is his absolute worst. Saying they are equal is just wacky. But, to each their own...

Digital Garden is not nearly as good of a song as When Doves Cry but its stripped down arrangement, lush synths, original and beautiful vocals give me the same rush of artistic excitement I felt from Prince when I first heard When Doves Cry. To each their own indeed.

Take Me With You - Not sure that it's all that unpopular, but it does seem to be the red-haired step-child of Purple Rain. I think it's one of his great pop songs.
Forever In My Life - Again, this may not be totally appropriate because I know lots of folks love it, but I do think this song doesn't get enough recognition for its terrifically clever arrangement and for being such an outlier for him lyrically.

Some good candidates on this thread already, I'll add a few to my list:

* In Love (always regarded this one as the best of his early output, great synths)
* Do It All Night (not hated, but hardly ever mentioned)
* Hello (I think people just dislike it for the title...)
* Life Can B So Nice (is there anything like this one, really?)
* Sexual Suicide (the more sinister cousin of "Girls & Boys")
* Rockhard In A Funky Place (criminally overlooked, better than most stuff that ended up on SOTT)
* Partyman (why this is never mentioned when discussing his classic hits, is bayond me)
* Vicki Waiting (reminds a bit of WDC actually)
* Lemon Crush (one of his best commercial-sounding pop songs)
* Sex (just amazing!)
* Lovesong (pretty damn inventive)
* Elephants & Flowers (one of his best vocal performances)
* She Spoke 2 Me (loved by some though, ignored by most orgers)
* Girl 6 (one of his best 90s funk tracks along with...)
* Get Wild (oh fuck yeah)
* The Return Of The Bump Squad ("oh fuck yeah" squared)
* In This Bed I Scream (everybody was raving about this one back in the day, yet it seems like it was mostly forgotten)
* 2Morrow (the cousin to "She Spoke 2 Me", great employment of the TMBGITW -sample)
* Comeback (another completely forgotten gem)
* The Sun, The Moon and Stars (amazing drum programming)
* Wherever U Go, Whatever U Do (one of his most succesful employments of the sparse Linn-sound on a slow song on his post-80s output)
* The Work (people seem very divided on this, I think it's a classic)
* Planet Earth (the juxtaposition of the anthemic first part and the W&L / "Dream Factory" -influenced middle section is just staggeringly beautiful)
* The Morning After (I'm quite positive this one will be more hated in the future, hah)

I guess "Hello", "Sex", "Lovesong", "Girl 6" and "Wherever U Go, Whatever U Do" are the ones that are outright "hated" most often.

Tsss. this list is tight! horns i've been i love with LCBSN from the moment i heard it. the drums are sick.

I think Around the World in A Day is the most underrated album. Mosts artists (in every medium) just give you more of what you already have of theirs. He went out on a limb and that was brave. Anyway it's why I can play 4 CD's of his in a row and not go crazy.

So as far as songs go, I recomend all the songs that most people don't know from that album. (Around the world in a day, Paisley Park, etc..)

So Dark to me is better than Dark. So Dark fits the meaning and tittle, cuz it's more "dark" sounding. To me it's the better version. Love it.
