It doesn't make Prince's album any better if NIN's sucks. It doesn't make Prince's album any worse if NIN's is great. It's irrelevant. it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die

I don't actually think we are really disagreeing that much, here. I see your point. And I see Trent's for that matter. We're cool. I just thought the suggestions for Reznor to shut up (why?) because his music is not above criticism seemed oddly off-point. gotcha. I didn't really mean to tell him to shut up (he can do what he wants), I meant more that it is often wise to shut up rather than bash another, because people will be all too happy to start bashing you in response! equally, the Prince-did-me-wrong-i-wish-this-were-the-80s-again-battered-fans are gonna cheer Trent on. Awww, that's cute too. Gotcha! It is funny to me, though, all of the immature statements being made about Trent simply because he expressed his opinion, people feel the need to attack him. Prince's music is subject to critism, just like NIN and everyone else. People take it so personally when someone says anything negative about Prince's music. now THAT is cute.

Then what the hell does that have to do with this discussion? lotusflower is speaking on authority of someone who has sold 4 million copies of an album and won Grammy awards and shit like that. That's why he is authorized to criticize Reznor (because he's matched his accomplishments) but Reznor is not authorized to criticize Prince (because Reznor has not matched Prince's accomplishments). Or something like that. I'm sure it would make sense if I gave it a chance and thought about it carefully and wasn't being unfair. it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die

Say what you want, but Trent has a point. And to whomever called him a no-talent hack, just remember that many people consider him and Prince on the same level as far as studio creativity goes. That said, at least Trent will admit he doesn't have an incredible collection of unreleased tunes sitting around gathering dust. Prince, we know, does, yet he neglects his fans. Now I'm not saying ALL of his unreleased stuff is awesome, I'm sure there is plenty left over from the last few years that can stay where it is, but we keep getting teased with great unreleased tracks which could easily be officially released. As for his the reasons they don't get released, I know his religion is his regular excuse, but you know that's bullshit. Or at least it's definitely not a permanent excuse.
As for Rivers Cuomo, I love his music and own all the Weezer albums, but he could use some quality control as well. The amazing part is how many good songs he writes, but he always seems to leave them off his albums. In the last year or two he's released two collections of demos and unreleased recordings which give a nice look into how he develops songs, but even some of those shouldn't have been released. Yet there are so many great songs being bootlegged that he finished that are light years better that will never see an official release. At least I don't think Rivers is screwing his fans intentionally though, his idiosyncracies (yeah, I know I didn't spell it right) are very real and get in the way of a lot of his works, music or otherwise. The same could be said of Prince, but I think that's more ego then anything else. Okay, I am ready to be flamed to a pulp!

Nope How does this fact bear upon the quality of Prince's recent albums? Would the albums be better or worse if Trent had performed twenty-one nights in London? First off, Trent could never pull that shit off, cuz he would never sell as much tickets as PRINCE! Yes, Musicology and 3121 were weak by PRINCE his standards as we set them for him! But any (BIG)musician now on the radio's would give a freaking HAND for album like that! I can't say that of any new NIN material that I've heard!!!

LotusFlow3r is NOT better than downward spiral or pretty hate machine. the rest of the NIN catalog, i don't care to argue. OR Broken, OR Fixed, OR The Fragile, OR Year Zero, OR With Teeth, OR the remix albums.
