Reznor is someone who drew a lot of inspiration (and in some cases, samples) from Prince's earlier work. He's as qualified as anyone else to have an opinion, even if he disagrees with us.
Reznor used to tell a story about the time he met Prince. They were both at the WB offices at the same time for some reason. Reznor found himself passing Prince in the hallway. Reznor said hi. Prince ignored him and kept walking. There's no real moral to that story except I thought it would be appropriate to tell it here. I now return you to the regularly scheduled defending of Prince and slamming of Reznor. So, this is just like Eminem and Everlast? I'm gonna diss you because you didn't say hi to me! Trent has never made anything that brothers like have enjoyed so until he comes up with a 1999 album then and only then will his opinion mean anything more than the rest of us. And I think that the majority of the orgers seem to think that Prince has put out a great triple disc if we were to check the census of the views of the majority of the people that post here.

Oh yeah, who the f---, is Trent Reznor? Is he the lead singer for NIN, lead guitarist? Sorry for not looking him up on the internet.
Anyway... Let's bring back,"The Battle of the Bands". Surely, MTV would pick up this show. 1st Episode, Prince vs. Trent Reznor!

This thread is indicative of the level of discourse on the Org. The response to this is that Prince is more talented and famous than Reznor?
In what way does that answer Reznor's point? Holy crap. it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die

In what way does that answer Reznor's point? Holy crap. well...Trent was being a dick and condescending to pretend he was being constructive--and not just to Prince but to Rivers, too. My Legacy

NDRU said: stanleylieber said: good gravy NIN is okay, but it's a bit cool, dark, poser music. Very decent music, but nothing that blows me away. I don't really like most of the newer NIN stuff. The instrumental album is good. I think Reznor has developed musical OCD just like Prince, Robert Smith and a few others who were big studio experimenters early in their careers. The production gets more and more technical and the music gets more and more sterile. But Reznor is doing right by his fans. Prince is making lots of money and making a lot of people regret having had a hand in it. Anyway, Reznor could be the worst musician in the history of music and it has no bearing on his point. I'm willing to bet Reznor is a more talented musician than anyone posting in this thread, but that doesn't stop many of us from thinking we're "worthy" of disagreeing with him. Why can't Reznor be critical of Prince? it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die
