HAZE03

I know that if Trent Reznor and Prince had a playoff, or two concerts in the same area on the same night at the same time, I know where I would be. It wouldn't be at a Razor concert! I am African American and I listen to all types of music. John Mayor, Nikka Costa, M. Manson, Queen, R&B, Led Zeplin, Jimmy Hendrix. What ever sounds good. I personally don't care what any of them do or did business wise, just give me the music. As long as they are following the laws of the land and not hurting anyone, how they do what they do is thier business. You either like it or you don't you either buy it or you don't. I know one thing, Prince ain't rapin' folks like our government did for the last 8 years. For a minute shit was higher than giraffe pussy and you needed a ladder to get it. I see FM's backwards at work throw away money all the time on stuff that will kill em'. Fast food, Starbucks, stocks ect.

For someone to think that just because you never heard of someone that you need to be schooled is biatch mentality to me. Trent's music didn't cross the culture devide for me like Prince's music has. I didn't hear Trent in my neck of the hood, my parent's weren't bumpin' Trent. My cousin and family didn't either
So Fuck everything Trent said! Trent's music ait shit to me! I give away worthless shit sometimes too!

As I said.. I didn't break any rules. The mods even started a ten page thread arguing with other members as to why I got banned even though I didn't break the rules.

In short... I got into an argument with several mods. I got frustrated because they were more intent with arguing rather than coming to a resolution. I posted in my personal Myspace blog my account of what happened and referred to a couple of mods as acting like bitches.

One of them ... went to my personal blog... read it... and banned me because I made the bitch reference. They pulled out the right to ban with out warning or explanation since there was nothing in the rules which said I couldn't say my peace on my own blog.

There were hurt feelings stemming from a previous incident which really led to this.

1. Trent and Bowie collaborated and toured together.

2. "Let's Dance" = Nile Rodgers. A LOT of Nile Rodgers and a little of Bowie. How do I know? Listen to Duran Duran's Notorious, or Grace Jones' "I'm Not Perfect",...

So based on these two things, I dare say that people shouldn't look at your opinion of Reznor and his music as informed or relevant.

Oh, BTW: plenty of women at NIN gigs.

And please remind me: which Prince tunes did Johnny Cash cover?

.
[Edited 5/8/09 15:50pm]

1. I don't think that working & touring with Bowie means your music is automatically as diverse as Bowie's. On the contrary, I'm Afraid of Americans just sounds like NIN as sung by Bowie.

I will say that Bowie's decision to work with him is a huge compliment to his talent, however.

2. I think "let's dance" was more wordplay than a reference to the album. Bowie was doing funky music years before that.

Thanks.

And to add to that...

3. I would say that trying to make Bowie out to be "less soulful or funky" with the Nile Rodgers comments doesn't make Trent Reznor more varied in his musical range.

4. Sure, there are women at NIN gigs. Define: "Plenty". Are you really going to attempt to argue that NIN does the same thing for women that Prince does? Prince makes some of the all time great sexy music and is a sex symbol to many. Trent Reznor? Not so much. Reznor wears less hats than Prince. That's all.

All I am saying is this: Prince is a sex icon in the world of pop culture/music/entertainment. Trent Reznor(sexy as some people find him) is not.

I would have to agree with this, outside of this site I don't really know of anyone who thinks of Prince as being all that sexy anymore. He used to be the one guy I'd still consider doing, but that ship has sailed too.
