Remember the Celebration with the Forum?

I was just reading through some of the 'Tavis Discussion' thread -
It reminded me just how fortunate we were to have had the opportunity to attend the panel discussion which included Dr. Cornell West, Michael Eric Dyson and Londell... moderated by Tavis. That was truly remarkable.

It was at one of the Celebrations. Anyone else remember that?

To this day I still can't believe how little we paid for a week packed full of events.

The desire to see that came up again in that forum. I had no idea that the same guests mentioned in that thread, were actually part of a past Celebration, as I heard of the celebrations, but didn't realize those same guests some of us wish to see have a discussion to touch on social/economic/political issues with Prince took place in the past. So maybe it's time for a followup of that, and will be interesting to hear their point of views.

I never knew they had took part in something like that back then, so I guess I was one of the fans that missed out on that. But some of us did wish we could see Prince, Dr. West, Tavis and Mr. Dyson in that type of discussion, maybe on Prince's site, as a taped, current video or perhaps he could put the one from the celebration you speak of up on his site, for those of us that missed out on that, and then do an updated version of it, since that was years ago, and times have changed a bit, I'd like to see a current forum of what they think of today's current state of America and other world issues.

I don't remember that taking place at any of the Celebrations, neither does psychodelicide. We are both reading this together and we both attended the Celebrations and do not recall this happening or even reading about. Which Celebration did this take place? confused

Really?? Wow - it was the Celebration where they had different workshops during the day... Sheila E, John Blackwell, Renato, Larry Graham etc. Most of the days it was a different musician... but one of the days it was this panel discussion. Ahhh - it was one of my Celebration highlights! I think it was 2002??

Hmm I do remember there was one day during the celebration that a bunch of fams had a cook out or something... it was a small crowd at the panel... so perhaps it was the same day as the cookout?

don't think it was 2002. in 2002 we had Maceo going on and on and on and on and on about his life's story and after an hour and a half, he was still in the high school marching band.
