Constructive Criticism

First regarding the new website. Dude you need to update it. A lot of us paid 77$ on the promise of a closer connection to you and the music. Most of us did so with anticipation in our hearts grown from what YOU created via NPGMC and such (I had front row on Musicology tour thanks to that site). So far the lotusflow3r website is a big MEH. Brother you KNOW this is true. FIX IT.

Play a smaller guitar. The Strat you played on Leno makes you look tiny. Where's the unicorn guitar? The Blue Angel?

If you're not going to tour, why not book some more TV time? What about PPV? I watched the live Rave show on PPV news year's eve as well as the late night ABC show and the Love41another show on Vh1. That's some great stuff there! BTW, why we can't see a DVD of the o2 shows? That would make a GREAT boxset.

Pull back on the super pricey limited merch like the Opus (which I want so bad), and offer some less pricey but still limited stuff. I think you should team up with Hamer and maybe Line6 and put out some sweet guitars and amps that model your sound. To this day I would kill a kitten to get my hands on a replica of your Telecaster or the Unicorn (not so much on that big-ass symbol guitar tho-sorry dude that thing is HUGE).

In 1985 in the window of a long closed store called "Merry-go-round" I saw Purple Rain fashions . You are always dressed to the nine's, why not market that so that we all can get a taste?

Open that vault! I hate to think about the world I will live in when you have passed into God's hands, and I will celebrate you then as I do now. But do we have to wait until you die before we get to hear what's in there?

Ok I guess I'm going to close with this. I'm not a hater, I'm a lovah. I've been with you since the beginning. You taught me everything about love, sex, romance and especially MUSIC. When everyone else in this world runs you through the dirt I will always be there to defend you. That said, since this forum has been rampant with trolls drunk on hateraide I say to them that I know you're going to rip on this post and I care not. If that's how you want to spend your time on the internets, enjoy.
The work. Let me show you it.

I agree that he should be updating the site more often. I have loved most of the concert videos that he has put up, but there should be more. Even if he rotates, I would like to see new stuff at least bi-weekly.

I agree that the videos are great, but i prefer my A/V content on the big screen with the big audio. Anyway I've worn those out already. For the money that we laid out there should be a good amount of updates. Besides, having the website be static like it is gives the impression that it's already old hat. And as you can see by the many posts from others here it makes us feel taken advantage of as well.

In the interview with Tavis he talks about how now is a time of celebration for him, how it's all about love and so forth. I'm really feeling that, but I don't live in LA and so I feel a million miles away from the party. IF he would regularly update the site, maybe allow for more interaction from the fans, put up some RECENT content as well as past stuff maybe I wouldn't feel so...overlooked.
The work. Let me show you it.

Just another quick thang...

I had just watched the Tavis interview and heard what Prince said about criticism when I decided to put up this topic. I recognize that in life (and especially on the internets) it's far too easy to be hurtful and say just whatever you want with no regard for your fellow man.

We are all here because we love Prince's music. But I've read some of the free speech on the forums here and it just makes me sad for folks.

I think that if Prince himself were sitting in front of me giving me the opportunity to say whatever to him about his life/career/music I would be a lot more polite and articulate. I don't know of any sites that are dedicated to hating on Prince. It's been a shame to see so many people come here with nothing but venom for the man.

Sure, he's a person just like you. And sure, the whole purpose of the internets is to allow for the uncensored interaction between people. I'm not advocating censorship. But maybe next time you want to rant and hate on a LEGEND like Prince look in the room you're sitting in, find an empty seat and imagine him sitting there eager to read what you're about to post. And then ask yourself if he'd come to your house again after he read it.
The work. Let me show you it.

The guitar from Purple Rain. The one that Appolonia gave to him right before he smacked the taste out of her mouth.

He's had models in various colors. A peach one during Sign of the Times. A black one during Batman. A blue one he called "The Blue Angel" in a 12 inch version of I wish U Heaven.

Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

I haven't joined the new website yet, thanks for the info. I use to shop at MGR in my teens, I had the ruffle shirt from PR alooooong time ago! LOL He should have some designer put his clothes out for the public, have a company put his line up at fashion week in NY. I've always wondered just where the music from his vault would go, and to whom. I don't think we'll know that until he passes away.

I agree with what you said, but I don't think he reads any of our post anyways.

I have very similar feelings on this subject cause it was the music that 1st interested all of us but some come here just to blast the music as if they can make it better than he can. If I don't like something then I just won't listen to it like most of the radio stations where I live. But this is a man who has made a lot of money just making music and although I believe in some criticism that can be taken in certain fashion but some just merely say it "sucks" and that is their criticism. And they group his music with others which I don't get. Compare him to other artist who in my thoughts don't even belong in the same room with Prince. But if someone was talking about you then how would you feel of such vicious words thrown your way. As a artist, I have been criticized and sometimes it is very painful to read what someone else has written about you especially when it is written in a hurtful way. I think that a lot of people just say what they want because no one really knows who they are and they can from the comfort of their computer say some of the harshest things about any subject from his relationships to his fashion sense. I understand that Prince is just a public figure but he is also an human being who regardless of what you believe is someones' son, brother, cousin and friend. The lack of respect for someone that you supposedly are a fan of is sometimes very astounding.
