Only at my third and his final show of the Purple Rain Tour in my city---because I knew I wouldn't see him again for a while. Never trust anything spoken in the presence of an erection.

Whenever I watch the '96 interview with Bryant Gumbel, and he ask about the baby I get choked up. Thinking about how tough a time it must have been, and still having to go promote Emancipation. Having two children of my own I can only imagine the pain. All you would want to do is curl up and cry, not go to work. Props to you Prince!

When he came back to Philly for the Musicology concert he got such a standing ovation that he couldn't even start his song, it must have lasted for almost 10 minutes with whistles and cheers he just stood there and bowed and kept saying thank you. He got choked up and I saw tears in his eyes and I definetly had them in mine. Beautiful memory! [Edited 3/9/09 18:19pm]

Yes as a man I have. Not a boo-hoo type of cry but puddles in the eyes:
1.Empty Room-C Note 2.RRHOF-While My Guitar Gently Weeps 3.Septimo-Motherless Child 4.Lovesexy Boot from Philly 88' 5.The Cross-when the Sheila's drum kick in full throttle with some of the filthiest guitar work he's ever done. My moments are mainly guitar-driven emotions & he's made me pick up a guitar! Thank U Prince [Edited 3/9/09 18:20pm]

* His solo guitar performance in "while my guitar gently weeps".
* When he choked up at Musicology tour. I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh

Ummm... Have you heard "Sometimes It Snows In April"?
Does it for me nearly everytime. And a couple folks mentioned the Musicology tour. I was at the first Seattle show, and when he did his encore with "Purple Rain", I couldn't help myself. And I'm not really a fan of that song.

Yes. Last month some family problems arose and while listening to "Purple Rain" the tears would just not stop flowing. There have been other times but last month was more significant to me. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

You know that scene in Graffiti Bridge where the speeding automobile kills Ingrid Chavez's character? It lasted all of 30 seconds with the ambulance getting there immediately?
I laughed until I cried.

I was thinking this just the other day.
Listening to 'I love u but I don't trust u anymore'. I have never cried at a song before, but this one somehow strucka chord. I guess it is about his break up with Mayte? If it is, then it's the saddest song I've ever heard. And beautiful to boot.

The only one of his songs I can remember ever shedding a tear to was "Power Fantastic." The genius of the instrumentation and the use of his voice in that song is what caused me to cry in amazement after I first heard it. i saw Prince for the 1st time at 21 nights in London. I only managed to go 2 nights. The last night he was there I watched the 10 minutes they showed on Sky News and cired my eyes out when the footage ended - I wanted to be there so bad! I also cry everytime at Sometimes it snows in April and Comeback AND i've also just cried reading some of the other posts on here!

Yes, me too. He looks so sad when he does 'Sometimes it snows in April' on the ONA in Vegas DVD. I just sat there looking at him with tears in my eyes. That man can touch my heart like no other entertainer.

The first time I heard "Purple Rain". I had bought it on cassette tape the day it was released, and was listening to it on my Ghetto Blaster on the rooftop of my building (while enjoying a cold beer, a doobie, and some sunshine). I don't know why because I didn't really get the lyrics on the first listen, and I had no concept of what the movie was going to be about yet, but something about that music just grabbed my heart - the rest is history.

On 7/7/07 in Minneapolis.... It was a really long time since I had seen Prince in concert. So decided to go to Minny to see the city and take in three concerts.
That was such a HOT day and the sun was just beating down our backs while standing in line for tickets to First Ave Show. We were CRYing as we waited almost all morning and afternoon for tickets. I was wearing strappy sandals and the straps were digging into my feet.... I was CRYing ....

yup everytime he promises 2 drop the hits but still does them man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

He makes me cry everytime I listen to him live.
He also makes me cry when I can't see him live. Double edged sword. "Love 2 the left of me, love 2 the right"

In November 2007, my dad died. He was 71, and I remembered back to those days in my teens when he (at around 48-50) would scream up to me to "turn that bloody noise down" as I listened to Purple Rain over and over and over again.
A few days after he'd died, I went for a long walk with my ipod thru the woods, and I listened to Purple Rain from start to finish, and cried like a baby. Prince didn't (and couldn't) MAKE me cry, but his music, unbeknown to him, helped me get in touch with my feelings around my dad's death. The power of music.
