Which album you love to see remastered and reissued with extra material?

My personal favourite: Parade

I would love to see a 2 CD-set containing the original artwork in the booklet, and extra liner-notes by Wendy and Lisa.

Disc 1:
The original Parade-album in remastered form.

Disc 2:
Outtakes, remixes and B-sides (remastered too)
- Love or Money (b-side, full version)
- Alexa de Paris (b-side, full version)
- An Honest Man (outtake)
- There's others here with us (outtake)
- Old Friends 4 Sale (outtake)
- In All my dreams (outtake)
- Sometimes it snows in April (movie version, with Clare Fisher arrangement)
- Mountains (12 inch version, 10 minutes long)

The parade thing would be nice, especially w/ a good version of "OF4S" segued into "All My Dreams", as it should be. There is a lot of gems from that era.

Purple Rain is ripe for all sorts of extras, and with 80 minutes on a compact disk, why WOULDN'T they fill it up with really great stuff.

Makes me wonder more if Dirty Mind wasn't all demos, and if they were completed, full on mixed down mastered songs, what that album would have ended up sounding like. (Same with "last Heart"). But at this point, I would NOT want Prince touching his back catalog like that.

And I have to just say, the 12" of "Alexa De Paris" is fucking spectacular. I LOVE that.

Definitely - and probably not much point going beyond TGE, as there wouldn't be much of a sonic advantage in doing so.

I'd take any album from Purple Rain onwards. But the disc 2 would have to be made up from non-circulating songs. Can't see much point in songs we already have. Yes, it would be nice to have some of them in better quality but I like hearing new stuff. smile

Certainly, all the albums from For You up to about Graffiti Bridge would benefit
from a remaster. I'd say "Sign O' The Times" is probably the one most in need.
It's probably Prince's most critically acclaimed album (and the fan-favorite),
yet, on CD it's probably the worst sounding... too quiet and thin sounding,
with a slight harshness to the sound. The vinyl version sounds so much
better.

The whole album is only a couple of seconds over 80 mins, so could fit onto
one CD. Leaving plenty of room for a disc (or two) of bonus material, like...
(*previously unreleased)

Rebirth Of The Flesh*
Housequake (Extended Remix)*
The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker (Extended Version)*
La, La, La, He, He, Hee (Highly Explosive)
Shockadelica (Extended Version)
Everybody Want What They Don't Got*
Cosmic Day*
Strange Relationship (Extended Remix)*
Crucial (Full Length Version)*
U Got The Look (Long Look)
Good Love (Full Length Version)
If I Was Your Girlfriend (Extended Version)*
Housequake (7 Minute Mo'Quake)
Crystal Ball (Extended Version)*
Joy In Repetition (Full Length Version)*
Adonis And Bathsheba*
I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man (Extended Remix)*
Hot Thing (Remix)
Hot Thing (Dub)
Adore (Extended Remix)*

I like how you think. I would add that Purple Rain is really very badly mastered for CD too, compared to the vinyl. That SOTT you describe would be a dream. drool

In my honest opinion:

Purple Rain, Around the World in day and Lovesexy really dont sound that bad on the CD's mastered in the eighties.

It are especially Parade and Sign of the Times that seem to be poorly mastered.

Very well thought out and definitive, to say the least. I would buy that in a heartbeat.

Q: I've watched Purple Rain about a million times, but where in the film is the Possessed instrumental playing? I can't for the life of me place it.

For years, I had no idea what that song was. I always assumed it was some weird form of "Modernaire". I didn't know about all the other versions of "Possessed", and even with the familiar hook on the "Prince and the Revolution LIVE" VHS, I still didn't pick up on it. It wasn't until about 2003 that I heard THAT version.

I have the Blu Ray DVD. My roommate got it for me on Amazon for like $14 or something. Neither of us own a BluRay player. haha

I would have thought I would have noticed Possessed after all these years, too. I almost bought the HD-DVD of Purple Rain a when Warners first released both the HD-DVD and Bluray discs. I was leaning towards getting an HD player before Blueray won the battle. I'm glad I waited. I ended up getting a PS3 this past Christmas just for the Bluray capability and it's hard drive I use for music storage.

I can't agree more, his best album and u can barely hear most of the time. These songs sound so much better loud (I watch my DVD copy of the movie when I want to live it, I f I watch I can not move, I am just transfixed, its that brilliant.
So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time
