Who was the "we" & "us" Prince kept referring to

One of the things when watching the Tavis interview, I was struck by how often Prince used the first person plural "we" and "us" seemingly to refer to himself.

At points it sounded like he was talking about "us" as in his organization/company/collective, but at other times he clearly was referring to himself that way... Like Guitar Hero came to us // or what we tried to do // etc.

Is this the royal "we"?

He´s been doing that for more than a decade now. Also refers to himself in the plural.Just like Crag David speaks of himself in the third person.

It's common in the industry. Prince isn't the first to use it. An artist saying "I" a lot kind of negates anyone and everyone who ever worked on a project. No one ever does it alone, not even Prince. So when you use the word "We" or "Us", it in inclusive of all the people that helped with the project. It's a courtesy.

Its common knowledge when he says "we" he means himself, Richard Simmons, Corey Haim and Screech from Saved by the Bell.

He does this alot during interviews. It seems like he's trying to imply that the "NPG" as a band has more input into his creative process than they really do.

I believe for Musicology he said something to the affect that "we" worked really hard on the album.

Personally, I think he does get inspiration from the band, but the creative output is dominated by his signature alone. lol

It's him, me and 5 other Org-ers. He calls us The Counc7l.

I'm not at liberty to reveal the other's identities.

We have a weekly meeting, usually by videoconference.

Every 7th week, he flies us out for a face-to-face meeting at 77 Beverly Park. It usually wraps up in time for a house party and jam session.

Him, us, rotating band members, some celebrities, just chillin' and jammin' and munchin' veggie style.

Japanese robes and sandals. Champagne in glasses with chocolate handles. Lots of incense and candles. nod

He's a Gemini. There's always a 'we' and 'us' involved.

At least he isn't full on referring to himself in third person.

He's been doing this for a minute now. I've always equated it with the Rastafarian concept of saying "I & I" (I n I), or the Sanskrit word "Namestae" (meaning the light within me recognizes the light within you). Some might call it a means of humbling an overly inflated ego.
