The Morning After...

I admit it.

I like this song.

Then again, I liked "All the Midnights of the world" from Planet Earth too boxed lol

I'm not sure why there's so much hate for the song. It's quirky. It's bouncy. It's not exactly radio ready even though it's catchy. I think it's fun little pop number. shrug

I like it 2. I love the quasi-farfisa organ parts.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

THE MORNING AFTER

IT DIDN'T HIT ME TIL THE MORNING AFTER
ALL EYE REMEMBER WAS A KISS AND THEN U WERE GONE
AND THEN EYE MISSED UR SMILE, THE SOUND OF UR LAUGHTER
AND NOW EYE'M SLEEING ON THE SIDE U SLEPT ON
AT FIRST EYE FELT THE ONLY REASON U LEFT ME
WAS THE PROPOSITION THAT EYE SPOKE IN UR EAR
EYE AIN'T A DOCTOR BUT EYE KNOW THIS AIN'T HEALTHY
INSTEAD OF COUNTING SHEEP, EYE'M COUNTING TEARS

EYE COULDA DROVE U HOME BUT U WOULDN'T LET ME
EYE DIDN'T CARE HOW FAR, OR IF IT WAS NEAR
AIN'T TRYIN 2 PUSH U CUZ EYE KNOW U JUST MET ME
EYE'M JUST WISHIN THAT U WERE HERE

EYE'M NOT THE KINDA MAN THAT'S SAD AND LONELY
IT'S JUST THAT SOMETHING TELLS ME UR THE ONE
EVEN IF U LOVE SOMEBODY ELSE IT'S ONLY‎
BETTER IF EYE GET THE CHANCE THE MOMENT U'RE DONE

PLEASE DON'T TELL ME THAT U LOST MY NUMBER
JUST COME BACK OVER IF U DON'T WANNA CALL
EYE'VE GOT SOME MUSIC THAT WILL MAKE U RHUMBA
WE CAN JAM BABY ALL NITE LONG...‎

OK, He doesn't have a lyric sheet so here's what I heard:

Ah huh
The morning after
The morning after,

It didn't hit me until the morning after
I remember you hiss and then mules were gone,
Then I miss the smog and sound of your laughter,
Now I'm sleeping in this bed with a trombone,

At first I thought the only lesbian who left me,
Was a prostitute that smoked in your ear,
I ain't a doctor but I know that's unhealthy
Instead of coming, Shiva counts Brahma's tears,

I could have drove a boat but you wouldn't let me,
I don't care how far as my butt was naired,
Ain't tryin' to push U cause I know you just met me,
I'm just wishing that mules weren't queer,

I'm not kind man that sat on ponies,
It's just that something tells me that you're the one,
Even if you lugged somebody else's bony derier,
the moment you're done,

Pleas don't tell me that u lost my number,
Just cut back overalls if you call,
I got some music that'll make mules rumba,
Wickans Jam, baby, all night long

The morning after
UGH
The morning after
hhh hhh hhh ha
the morning after
huh huh...huh huh..
The morning after

It didn't hit till the morning after.

'Midnights' is a classic, succinct, beautiful track with a thoughtful lyric that strangely gets very little love. sad

I like this song too. It reminds me a bit of "Raspberry Beret" for some odd reason. lol I like this song a lot better than Prince's cover of "Crimson and Clover". Prince should have left "Crimson and Clover" off, and put "The Morning After" in its place. My twocents, I know some of you will disagree with me, but that's okay.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I also enjoy this song and All the Midnights in the World. I felt bad for liking them and thought I was the only one, so I'm glad there are some other people coming out of the "I like Prince's crappy ballads" closet.
