After seeing the Prince interview....... Who liked Prince better when he didn't talk much? "Love God"

that's the thing with REAL live human beings. they may actually say or do something you don't like, have thoughts/beliefs you disagree with thus ruining your mental construct of them.

Anyone who liked it better when Prince didn't talk can always CHOOSE to NOT watch the next interview(s) that he does. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I liked when he laughed at the end of the interview - a real laughter he couldn't hold back. To me it really felt straight from the heart, pure, light, easy and relaxed! He should be more like that in public. Let loose, let the guards down, allow himself to participate and enjoy instead of watching from the side. He says many good things I can relate to - in his music as well as interviews - but one thing is to theorize on topics, it's is something else to actually practise it. Love4oneanother! You said it Prince!
BTW! Did anyone notice that he actually mentions the epilectic thing in the beginning of the Sacrifice of Victor video?? And was this even news to the hardcore Prince fan??

He has come a long way from his interview with Dick Clark on AB. I felt like I was watching an interview with Helen Keller. He has matured very well, with age. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

And was this even news to the hardcore Prince fan?? no news to me! Everybody who has been a Prince fan for a while and pays attention to the lyrics picked up the so called news a long time ago. The name choice 'Victor' meaning 'winner' somebody who defeats an enemy or opponent also fits perfectly. Prince became the victor over his childhood illness among other things. love the one who is Love!

I love this answer. Exactly. Then why do some of you get so upset when people are critical of Prince? And by the way I think the man talks alot of nonsense. Most of his answers weren't logical and Tavis.....well I belive he wants to get him in the butt..... they are both so down low gay! "Love God"

Me, definitely. I could imagine him being more interesting than he really is. He tries so damned hard to appear complex sometimes, it's annoying. Although his admission of epilypsy (which he recounted years ago in 'The Sacrifice of Victor' off the symbol album) was a moment of what appeared earnest introspection, the interview failed to be truly insightful in that: 1) Tavis never followed up on answers. chemtrails? CHEMTRAILS? Tavis, was you sleepin', fool?!?! 2) Tavis's questions read like a rehearsed set of cards meant to only further a staged P&R moment. Prince is obviously a fascinating man. But I think he'd be much more fascinating unscripted and with his guard down. Even with what appeared to be that on Tavis's show, when you look below the various gestures and what is revealed, it was barely any different than the Oprah Interview--just better executed. That being said, it's probably Prince's best on air Interview ever.

Yes, Prince surely isn't Bowie when it comes to interviews. The interviewer was much worse, though. "Prince, everything about you is love, you love man, you're the love master blablabla..." WTH? Hey loudmouth, shut the fuck up, right?

Prince performed and talked about all sorts of stuff -- even when not talking about a terribly tragic situation. Oprah was a fan, but she maintained control. Tavis, not so much.

I think Imago hit it on the head... the highlights of the interview were when Prince actually gave some insight into himself and his work--the discussion of epilepsy, growing up with Andre Cymone, and the reason why he prefers to sing falsetto on slow songs (not liking male vocalists--very interesting). Everything else was overly indulgent and accommodating. "That...magic, the start of something revolutionary-the Minneapolis Sound, we should cherish it and not punish prince for not being able to replicate it."-Dreamshaman32

I wonder how Tavis and Prince's convos go when they're at his place?
For ppl that have been friends for so long, it seems like Tavis hasn't got past the fanatic stage yet... and Prince seemed sorta uncomfortable with the excessive praise too. All the love talk was too much Tavis. We know u love Prince and we do too but it was over the top. I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh

It's the deepest interview I'VE ever heard him give (without having to whisper his answers to somebody else to respond to the interviewers' question, lol). He seemed relaxed and in a good place too. Plus, he was sharing all kinds of things that he NEVER used to talk about, lol. I think he did a great job, plus I LOVED them shoes his was rockin', lol. I think Tavis did a good job also. Kept it relaxed and conversational. I don't need to witness an interrogation to feel like I learned something about Prince.

indeed. and it may be possible for we orgers to realize that he is not the same person he was 20 years ago - people tend to grow in the directions they want to grow, and we don't have to worry about whether or not his views align or conflict with ours. (This is a problem I've noticed Americans have overall.)

I remember the rare MTV interview in 1986, back then Prince was weird too, but still very cool also, I was thrilled just to be able to hear him talk, now he just comes off as weird, I am a little embarrased by the Tavis interview, and, seriously, I can't believe he is a JW, as a liberal myself, I find this very sad. Thanks to Larry for the brainwashing Prince used to be "revolutionary", he had great spirit and was a real rock n roller - now he's a conservative, the allmost opposite. Sad. [Edited 5/2/09 14:05pm] Prince 4Ever.

To me the interview just seemed rehearsed. What got me is when he told that story about Larry getting out of his car to kick someone's butt.....I really didn't get the connection with that and what he was talking about. It just seems he is so fake when he talks that I perfer him better silent. "Love God"
