What is a Unicorn Guitar? cool

The guitar from Purple Rain. The one that Appolonia gave to him right before he smacked the taste out of her mouth.

He's had models in various colors. A peach one during Sign of the Times. A black one during Batman. A blue one he called "The Blue Angel" in a 12 inch version of I wish U Heaven.

oh 'the unicorn guitar' I never heard that term used before

He called the blue one during the Lovesexy aftershows 'the blue angel'

I heard those guitars called 'cloud guitars' as well

He had the black one during the Parade tour too
and then a yellow of Diamonds & Pearls

my favorites are the white, black & peach

First regarding the new website. Dude you need to update it. A lot of us paid 77$ on the promise of a closer connection to you and the music. Most of us did so with anticipation in our hearts grown from what YOU created via NPGMC and such (I had front row on Musicology tour thanks to that site). So far the lotusflow3r website is a big MEH. Brother you KNOW this is true. FIX IT.

Play a smaller guitar. The Strat you played on Leno makes you look tiny. Where's the unicorn guitar? The Blue Angel?

If you're not going to tour, why not book some more TV time? What about PPV? I watched the live Rave show on PPV news year's eve as well as the late night ABC show and the Love41another show on Vh1. That's some great stuff there! BTW, why we can't see a DVD of the o2 shows? That would make a GREAT boxset.

Pull back on the super pricey limited merch like the Opus (which I want so bad), and offer some less pricey but still limited stuff. I think you should team up with Hamer and maybe Line6 and put out some sweet guitars and amps that model your sound. To this day I would kill a kitten to get my hands on a replica of your Telecaster or the Unicorn (not so much on that big-ass symbol guitar tho-sorry dude that thing is HUGE).

In 1985 in the window of a long closed store called "Merry-go-round" I saw Purple Rain fashions . You are always dressed to the nine's, why not market that so that we all can get a taste?

Open that vault! I hate to think about the world I will live in when you have passed into God's hands, and I will celebrate you then as I do now. But do we have to wait until you die before we get to hear what's in there?

Ok I guess I'm going to close with this. I'm not a hater, I'm a lovah. I've been with you since the beginning. You taught me everything about love, sex, romance and especially MUSIC. When everyone else in this world runs you through the dirt I will always be there to defend you. That said, since this forum has been rampant with trolls drunk on hateraide I say to them that I know you're going to rip on this post and I care not. If that's how you want to spend your time on the internets, enjoy.

Maybe you misunderstood when he was talking about constructive criticism in his interview with Tavis. As an artist he was talking about critiques about his work, mainly songs. Every artist is open to this sort of critique provided it is done in a mature manner and is aimed at improvement rather than putting the artist down.
What you seem to have here is your complaints / unhappiness in the way he conducts his business and he has no reason to improve on it, if he thinks he made the correct decisions.

rolleyes

The OP's post IS constructive criticism. It was worded in such a way that it's clearly meant to be suggestions, not complaints. There's nothing wrong with offering critiques or suggestions. You seem to be under the impression that anyone who does have such a viewpoint is complaining or "hating" rolleyes on the lil guy. Grow up, will you? Prince is not beyond reproach.

OK, WHERE have I said that he is hating? I know what "hate" is. Obviously you are barking up the wrong tree. He can say whatever he wants, I just explained to him what Prince was talking about during the interview. Maybe you need to look up the definition and find out it's relation in terms of artists / Musicians.

You didn't say anything that Prince doesn't already know. There are reasons why he doesn't do those things, none of which matter to you or I, but in Prince's mind it's like asking the impossible.

Your point is off, kid. The OP's post was legitimate constructive criticism.

Dude, I think you've internalized Prince's habit of making demands, and then calling it love. Your post reads just like the song "Love": It's a wish list of things you want, wrapped up in a big bow of lovey dove.

I wrote the post with the hope of starting a thread where everyone might share their own brand of constructive criticism based in part on what was mentioned in the interview. I think that someone with an ego as large as Prince's, regardless of the lengths he might go to to reduce it, would be interested in the opinions of his greatest fans. That is, so long as the discussion is positive.

In my opinion music is a divine creation so I don't see the sense in criticizing it. The music just is. So I don't see much else to constructively criticize other than his bidness decisions. It's been his choices in that area that have affected me, and others here sometimes in the negative. The most recent example could be lotusflow3r. But in all cases where I would be critical it is because I want MORE not less or different than.

The only thing that's wonky about this whole mess is that we, the fans have to make do with less.
The work. Let me show you it.
