I was moved to tears of laughter upon first hearing the end of "Baby" the other day. I finally managed to find a copy of "For You" at Sydney International Airport, of all places...got home, played it (loved it for the most part) and when it got to the last line of that track, "Baby", I cracked up probably the most I ever have at Prince - and I have laughed at him a lot over the years, believe me. I think the line is "I hope our baby has eyes like yours"...but it is not so much the line as the way he sings it...I think it wins for the gayest sounding voice he has used in his entire career...at least from all I've heard in his catalogue. The song wasn't half bad up until that point, then it's just comedy. Ha. But laughing at certain things he sings/the way he sings them is one of the reasons why I love his music.

I listened to For You for the first time in years or ever the other day too--Baby is a cool as jam. I'll have to listen for that part.

Look, I know it's not one of his best songs, but I certainly don't think it's one of his worst...WHY DOES EVERYBODY ON THE ORG HATE THE SONG, "RIGHT THE WRONG". I think his foray into pseudo-country is pretty successful, actually. I'm probably going to get a lot of backlash for this. He's tackled every other genre pretty well and I think "Right the Wrong" is GOOD.

Adore.

"If God one day struck me blind, your beauty I'd still see,
Love's too weak to define just what you mean to me."

I think it was this song that got me into Prince. A friend had the hits and I heard this song and was gone. Since then there have been hundred, Sometimes It Snows, Condition of the Heart, Purple Rain, Power Fantastic, Can't Make You Love Me, Pink Cashmere, I Hate U...

Damn, I'm obviously a very emotional girl...

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I'm not easily moved to tears, but "Power Fantastic" just knocked me on my ass one day. I had fallen in love for the first time, and despite that fact this person and I had fought it every step of the way, we were swept by one-another.

"Power Fantastic" seemed to detail every sentiment of the journey. I'd heard it and deeply enjoyed it many times before, but it was clear only then that I had never before truly related to it.

the very first song that made me cry was holy river. you could hear him puring his soul into it because it sounded like he was truly trying to do right.
