I love the sacrifice of victor song but, i'd love to know all the ins and outs of it. To me, the "sacrifice" was the "victory" of being #1, a major pop star, etc. He was at the end of part 1 of his fight w/ the WB, yet it was just starting. It's about going through the trails set before you, NOT because you want to go through the trail, but who you'll be on the other side of it. He knew if he fought long and hard enough, he'd be out of the WB's umbrella. While not relishing the fight, he relished the eventual outcome. He fought a lot as a kid, being black, teased, scorned (racially), etc. Black people sacrificed a lot of victories, and he was no exception. He used a lot of quips from his younger life as a black boy too, an an analogy or example. Just my two cents. | |

It's a euphemism for a better place, a utopia, or a happier side of things. The whole song is a plea for forgiveness and compassion. | |

There are a lot of Prince songs that I don't understand!
I'm okay with the self explanitory ones - do me baby, It, head, etc etc...
with regards to a lot of the music I hear the words but I don't listen to them...if that makes sense? I have wondered about Purple Rain in the past though... but I think I've worked that one out now  | |
