What are some examples of negative comments about Prince?
Is it the jokes about him wearing wigs and extensions? Is it critiques that suggest his music has fallen off? Is it the suggestions that he has disrespected his fans through litigious behavior and shoddy online service? Or is the negativity seen in other things?

I totally agree, it's senseless. Too much hate causes decay. It seems as if many people have reached their limits and have either stopped posting or only post sporatically.

I could care less about wigs or extensions. Most of these celebs wear that crap nowadays. Not saying that he does. IMO I don't feel his music has fallen off. I'll be the first to admit that I don't like a few of his songs on these cds. But if you or whoever are looking for 1984 Prince I suggest you go buy Purple Rain and call it a day/night. As far as him disrespecting his fans. Do what anyone who feels disrespected would do. Say your peace and move around. Quit coming back for more than complain about it. The negativity comes IMO when say some someone post a thread like "Vote 4 Prince" and here comes people in the thread saying Oh he isn't gonna win! Either STFU and vote or don't.Damn. Or when someone says LotusFlower is! #1. Here comes someone saying I repeat LotusFlower is NOT #1. And last but least. Prince didn't fall to far on the charts. Here comes someone saying Actually he fell such and such this week. AS he would say "Shut Already Damn"!!!! I don't mean to sound Stanish but JeSuS!!!!!

The senseless negativity that consistently comes from the same people is ruining the experience for me. I don't even read most of it because it makes me feel ashamed that Prince fans can be so cruel and disrespectful to the person this site is dedicated to and to each other. I have even regretted starting threads to report news. I find myself cringing as I read the vile remarks. Some people who feel they have the right to shit on every thread are nothing but trolls seeking attention and unfortunately we are guilty of giving it to them. Perhaps if we, the ones they call fammy, blind sheep ignore them, and we stop giving them this attention, they will find somewhere else to gather. I agree, I have noticed that many times that interesting and funny threads get locked while the abusive ones stay. I find the the abusive threads very offensive the name calling is outrageous. If people really can't help themselves and have to take the piss out of Prince all the time, then I suggest they GETT OFF on another site for Prince haterz.

Seriously, If I was not a fan I would not waste time from my life and family to post hatred here daily! It's really starting to get old-then there are those who just troll threads looking for opportunities to make terrible comments towards other posters or Prince. It needs to stop-where the hell are the mods? Why does it always have to be like this here? I know we all have freedom of speech, but Prince has feelings as he said in his Tavis interview and so does every person who logs in here. Sorry, but it had to be said.
Can't really understand it myself, I know when I first started to come here I was happy to find a site where I could share my love for his music with other people. Sadly I found a lot of hating going on here, fault finding in everthing the guy did. Silly in a way because no one is perfect. I really wanted to know how other people interpreted his music from a technical stand point as I am not a musician. I don't know what to make of it sometimes, is it jealousy? Who knows, it is really sad. I agree with both of you. Many times the mods lock the wrong threads it's so bloody annoying.

Yes, actually trolling, flame-baiting posts are unnecesary (but unpreventable).
But, I have a feeling that a lot of these posters complaining are simply fans who can't handle any criticism of Prince in any form. Their status as a Prince fan is a big part of their identity. Negative comments about Prince are negative comments about them. Extensive Prince discussion naturally leads to criticism. What's the point of having the discussion if we can't express different views? I've been a Prince fan for 25 years. I've purchased every album, gone to multiple concerts. Yet, I don't like all of his music. I don't always like what he has to say or what he does. That doesn't mean I'm not a fan. I love my friends and family. But, they do stuff I don't like. Doesn't make me love them any less. Nonetheless, there is always a self-professed "superfan" who wants to set out the parameters of discussion for everyone else, detailing what should and should not be said. Thanks, but no thanks.

I don't like everything Prince puts out, and I have not been happy with everything he has done over the years. Overall, his music and his live performances have enhanced my life and have given me much pleasure. If I don't like something, I simply listen to something else. It's not like we don't have hundreds of experiences to choose from. Most of us who are against the negativity are responding to the disrespect. One can criticize without being rude, and insulting to Prince, his friends, and each other. Most of the trolls are on here just to cause trouble and incite reactions and have nothing constructive to say. Some are here to target other fans and bully others. Some are dying to get Prince's attention. Grow up! It is getting boring and tedious, and it is usually the same characters. When those of us who are sick of it try to change the tone of the Prince forums we get attacked, called names, and analyzed. Criticism that is constructive is not what we are complaining about. It is all about RESPECT. This is supposed to be fun, yet it is not. "It's hard 4 me 2 say what's right when all I want to do is wrong..."

EXACTLY!! Where are you people from? Freedom of speech and expression are alive and well, do not attempt to squash it. I was listening to Erotic City this morning, thinking of how much better that sounds than the new stuff. The point is: YOU DON'T HAVE TO AGREE WITH WHAT I THINK, BUT I'LL BE DAMNED IF I ALLOW YOU TO TELL ME WHAT I'M SUPPOSED TO THINK.

You know, I miss the old P.Org (the one with the black screen and colorful letters that every chose. There were some real discussions there not this I hate P for being P. I'm starting to wonder why I comeback, Then I think about it's because of Peeps like Nurse. Kinda hard to filter out weeds, but this is a free website and I guess you can say you've got your freedom of speech. But still if you don't like P then why are you here? You have nothing to share, nothing to offer. Always seems like your out to dog P. P got his and where is yours? Or is that why your out to dog the man. I mean if your any better then why are you here? "I don't make the rules. I just play"
