10 years ago .......?????? Did you expect 10 years ago that Prince would make a comeback like he has this decade.
If we go back to 1999 (Before Rave came out) and he was still known as TAFKAP and Symbol. He was going to release the Vault (Crystal balls poor daughter) and 1999 the New Master was out. We had all just read Liz Smith's "Slave to the Rythmn" and the last great album was either Exodus or Emancipation (Crystal ball was plagued by the organisational debacle), and Princes concerts went through a bit of a lean phase and NPS was his last proper album. A lot of us must have thought the end was near. (I actually went off him in late 1997, and only got hooked again in 2004 with Musicology) And then what happened, he gave us Rave and The Rainbow Children (Ok I guess but not a real comeback). Then 2004, hes on satge with Beyonce and then the superlative Musicology and its video. After that the comeback was assured full of gems like 3121 and MPLSound. BUT did you think in 1999, Prince was ever going to make it to 3121 or Lotusflow3r/MPLSound. Because I didn't I actually thought he had lost the plot like Jacko, but no Jacko is forgotten, Prince is as vibrant as ever. So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

I guess if U have just been around Prince's music...He's just kept going...There has never been a time to say came back...It is the listener that comes and goes, unless Prince has some invisible man talent I am unaware of. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

Hell ten years ago was 1999. I heard Prince so much around my house, I could have sworn he'd moved in and he was the one eating all my Eggos!
The man never went away. And I'm happy! I love a Man who:
Wears More Make Up Than Me. Wears Four Inch Stilleto Boots. Changes His Name To An Unpronouncable Symbol. Who Changes His Name Back From An Unpronouncable Symbol. Oh And Most Importantly, Who Is Sexy Little Drop Of Butterscotch

Copy taht...He never went away and never stopped being active with music. Just because he didn't put out anything himself don't mean he wasn't busy writing for others. Prince's Sarah

If I can remember back in 1999 or somewhere real close by he released an album/cd/8 track or cassette, pick one and it's still a darn good collection of music (Rave) to be added to the P toybox of sounds. Where were you? or did you miss the boat? Do you really think that P would create "1999" and disappear. Did ya see the interview on the album/cd/8 track or cassette, pick one? It's great that YOU made a comeback. Your still a cool cat. "I don't make the rules. I just play"

I do apologize for the double post but come on now I know "The Greatest Romance..." was around during that time, check the concert for 1999 as well as the cd. That is a beautiful song and If you missed then you missed. "I don't make the rules. I just play"

Its a good point, but I just could never get the whole NPS/Rave thing when it happened. I live in New Zealand so have never been lucky enough 2 c a concert. Its just hes everywhere now, all the excitement and orgers raving about how good the new albums are So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

What comeback, he would have had to be gone to make a comeback and he wasn't.

Prince isn't selling records outside the States. Literally. Fickle thing is fame, Prince is back to low profile ouside America, would he pull off a residency at the O2 right now? 2 or 3 nights at best if at full price tickets.
