Late 2 the party...but here's my reconfiguration of the latest albums Using SOTT as a template, I reconfigured most of the Lotusflow3r and MPLSound tracks into a "new" double-album, "Dreamer" (I know that to be a true mirror of SOTT, the album should have the same title as Track 1, but it didn't "fit" IMO -in general, I had a lot of trouble with comparative match-ups, as I will explain).
1. Colonized Mind (Sign o' the Times): This one was an easy comparison: both are hard-hitting and politically conscious lyric-wise while being mesmerizing musically. 2. Feel Better... (Housequake)*: This track and the next one get an asterisk because they are a reversal of the SOTT formula. I had to do it this way since I couldn't figure out a way to smoothly eliminate the segue from "Colonized Mind" into this track. This and Housequake are both funky party songs; rather easy comparison. 3. Wall of Berlin (Play in the Sunshine)*: This is where the match-ups start to get tough; I'm not saying all of these are perfect fits, but since I needed to find a spot for each track I wanted to include, I had to rationalize--sensibly or not--where to put what. This match-up is based on the feel-good vibe and the great axe shredding both songs have. 4. Valentina (Dorothy Parker): Both have a laid-back vibe, as well as the Linn drum. 5-6. Crimson & Clover/Boom (IT): Here I chose two songs to stand for one, and I followed the lead of some others by placing C&C before "Boom" since IMO they sound better in that order. These two tracks and "IT" all have a similar intense, exotic, sexually-charged vibe, so it's a solid (if not obvious) match-up, I think. 7. The Morning After (Starfish & Coffee): Both cheery, short-and-sweet sing-along songs. 8. Better with Time (Slow Love): Needed a ballad here, and this was the best option at this spot. 9. Dance 4 Me (Hot Thing): Another no-brainer match-up: both uber-funky dance tracks with an irresistible groove. 10. 4ever (Forever in My Life): Match-up based on the lyrical content of both songs - e.g. He LOVES her like crazy. 11. Chocolate Box (U Got the Look): I'll admit these two don't match up AT ALL, but I needed to put this song somewhere, since I dig it. I used the rationale of both songs being "powerhouse singles" on their respective albums (and in their respective eras). 12. U're Gonna C Me (If I Was Your GF): One of two VERY strong ballads among the latest album tracks (just as IIWYGF is on SOTT); fits best here because it is more mid-tempo than "Here." 13, $ (Strange Relationship): Both quirky, funky tracks with Camille vocals. 14. No More Candy 4 U (I Could Never...): Another match-up that makes little sense...however both have infectious melodies and refrains, and both have an "indie" edge to them, though in different ways (I'm talking about the instrumental section of ICNTTPOYM vs. "No More Candy" the whole song). 15. Dreamer (The Cross): Both feature iconic rock guitar that sends shivers down your spine. 16. Ol' Skool Company (Beautiful Night): OK, so realistically "There'll Never B" would fit better here as a "lengthy party anthem," except that I dislike that song very much. So, "Ol' Skool" takes the party anthem spot. . 17. Here (Adore): As on SOTT, the best ballad closes the album. Personally, I prefer "If I Was Your GF" to "Adore," but I went with tempo and vibe here, so "Here" is closer to "Adore" in that respect. I don't really consider IIWYGF a"ballad" per se, since it is more of a mid-tempo song, But anyway... What do y'all think of my tracklist (songs and sequence)? Awesome...I have it all queued up like this in Media Player on my laptop (minus "Crimson & Clover" which I haven't ripped from the CD yet - I'm using the website downloads for now) and it sounds great! https://www.youtube.com/@PurpleKnightsPodcast

4. Valentina (Dorothy Parker) [Edited 5/30/09 17:21pm] I could've put "Love Like Jazz" there, I suppose. But I like "Valentina" better (as a song, not as a match-up with "Dorothy Parker" necessarily). https://www.youtube.com/@PurpleKnightsPodcast

What if I replaced "Valentina" with "Love Like Jazz" and "Ol' Skool Company" with "(There'll Never B) Another Like Me"? I don't like those songs, but in the context of my experiment, they are closer matches to their SOTT counterparts... https://www.youtube.com/@PurpleKnightsPodcast
