Prince songs on Idol (or similar shows) I'm curious if you know of any examples of Prince songs being covered on Idol...
I imagine it must be kinda hard to get clearance to cover his songs on these kind of shows.... I remember a news item about the one time I've heard a Prince song on American Idol, which was when some girl from Minneapolis got a special permission from Prince to do "Kiss" on the show... On the other hand, tonight on Icelandic Idol, one of the female contestants will be doing "When Doves Cry" as part of the theme "Songs from the year you were born"..... Is it likely that the Icelandic Idol series had to get special permission from Prince or is it maybe easier outside the USA? | |

Paris (Ann Nesby's granddaughter) is the only person to perform a Prince song on the show. That's probably only because Prince is friends with Ann.

fantasia performed purple rain,
