Bond between Brothers. I've been reading a lot about the way Tavis Smiley is praising Prince and how much he has voiced his admiration for him. I just wanna say that the bond between successful, intelligent Black men that have overcome they're stuggles and acquired the success that these men have cannot be felt or understood by anyone that has not walked miles in their shoes, you will NEVER understand, so stop the critism. For those that are still living at home with momma, and wiping your ass with the toilet paper your parents buy. You are out of order! | |

They just hatin because Prince is clearly more relaxed and intimate with Tavis which lends to a much more genuine interview. As a black man who is in the process of "making it do what it do" on many fronts i appreciate watching two positive brotha's just rappin. [Edited 4/29/09 11:06am] | |

Shouldn't have included that inane comment. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

The correct spelling is "their" and "criticism" . . . and the last line completely negates the validity of your message. As for the Tavis show, I think people were hoping to get more Q&A in the "interview", and less on-air adoration for adoration's sake. | |

----- They need to relax and shut the hell up!!! Your always going to have some people who do not want to hear the truth. Both Tavis and Prince had it hard coming up but they made it. Brothers need to get off of their butts and make it happen. [Edited 4/29/09 14:13pm] | |

That's right!
We were just a fly on the wall observing two intelligent black men speaking as freely as possible on public television. Consider this much more thought provoking viewing than most of the junk on t.v. now. Tavis doesn't know the answers to the worlds problems and neither does Prince but it's wonderful they both show a great interest. ThankUPrince! | |

Brothers need to get off of their butts and make it happen. I was mainly critiquing this line: "For those that are still living at home with momma, and wiping your ass with the toilet paper your parents buy. You are out of order!" One: it really has nothing to do with your "message". Using profanities and crude language while presenting your argument is unnecessary. Two: a paragraph about intelligent Black men that contains 2 typos? There's something contradictory there. Your main message is very strong though. You're proud of both Prince and Tavis for overcoming adversities and becoming strong, successful Black men. So am I. | |

It's always so interesting how a statement on the org causes so much emotion and sometimes anger from posters It's really quite sad at the same time. Everybody has a right to their own opinion. We don't have to agree, but we should at least be courteous. | |

So that's it, is it?
We can't critique the Tavis brown-nosing, sorry interview, on the basis that they are two black guys that have overcome hardships. ...mmmmm, OK. | |

Most of it was intelligent, and it was a very interesting interview: • Soundscan • Record label/no airplay • Jack Johnson • Chemtrails • 8 US Presidents before Washington • How he learned to play piano • Talk of epilepsy/childhood teasing | |

----- I have never said anything racist and this thread is about positive brothers being featured in the media not two ignorant no-count brothers which is what you usually see. Please explain how pointing this out is racist. Maybe you need to look up the word and learn the definition. Mentioning the topic of race is not being racist. but you run and hide back in whatever world your living in. | |
