I was too young for this. I was 12 years old and lived in a small town in Minnesota. Prince did like a 4 of 5 night stand (with matinees) around Christmastime 1984 at the St. Paul Civic Center. A few years later my boyfriend Rich told me about one of those shows he went to where the piano segment lasted 45 minutes. I know that show was recorded cause years after that a highschool friend, who's boyfriend worked at Rykodisk, handed me a 20 paged, tiny typed printed out list of cassette boots that her boyfriend sold, and I swear to god it seemed like every concert Prince ever did was on that list, including the Civic center shows. All of them. I ended up buying the Black Album and Camille. I didn't know any better. I still hope I can hear that 45 minute piano interlude show, too.
Anyway, I love this thread!

I was born in 82 ... I sometimes really envy those that were there at that time and have all those awesome memories from his concerts back in the day. I would've LOVED to seen any of that! I love Prince as he is now and the Prince I witnessed while I was growing up but, Damn! I turn green just reading your posts. Shake....shake, shake, shake.

They should have met years earlier and had me then.. Jerks. lol) p.s. you got an awesome collection of rare pics.

THESE right here are BANGIN'! These has to be from the opening night show of the tour in Detroit performing Let's Go Crazy. Because I remember P wearing that Hendrix hat and dressed all in plum purple on the opening night of the tour. I saw pics of it in Circus magazine (a rock magazine mind you) and thought "Damn! P is NOT playing down his ode to Hendrix in his clothes at that show!". SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

YOu guys in the US are pretty lucky.
Imagine in 85, being a fan (which was a rarity in it self), in an obscure country like Australia. We got our fix through the Syracuse show live via Satelite. And for some reason, I remember that day as if it was yesterday. What a show, what a peformer, and what songs!!!!
