Second, only Shelia was with him in the 80s. That's hardly a Lovesexy revival. Third, I think it's pretty clear that he's toying with mixing it up these days. Can you imagine if he toured with 3 or 4 different lineups? I think that could make for some pretty interesting shows. Edit: Just saw it myself. Pretty sure that was Renato on the left, another dent in your argument, I'm afraid. [Edited 4/23/09 16:52pm] Edit: And I see that you mentioned him already. Ooops. But still. Where do you get 80s from this lineup? I think you need to your liner notes again dude. [Edited 4/23/09 16:55pm]

I'm crazy because I see his past work as the best and yet he has to return to his own past with the musicians that helped create those great works and Prince is the futuristic visionary? 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I have no idea Point is, they were out of the scene at least for a little bit. I've seen Prince without Mr hayes for sure and without Renato as well. One is NPS, the other Rainbow Children. Rhonda & Sheila E, reaching back to the past as far and even farther. Please 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

the future is in prince's past.
looking back is the new looking forward. stop trying to make him stagnate in all this future thinking. it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die

He played with the current band in one of the shows L.A. Folks need to get off it. One 80's band member whom he's been frequently playing with over the last six or seven years does not equal living in the past. perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

Please Well, actually: Morris joined the NPG in 92 Rhonda in 96 Renato in 02 They may not have been with him consistently since then, but I don't think Prince bringing them back is a nostaligia trip. Pulling the best players he's worked with together is a good idea, no?

He's always starting new bands just when the old band is finding it's footing and voice. Why not keep great band members to begin with intstead of constantly having to train a new one? I love that he's working with these people but find it hilarious that Prince needs to reach back in time to have a decent sounding band 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Are they not committed or does Prince not care? I'm thinking their appearance for the Artist Corps had to have been planned a good time in advance. Probably before P got booked for Ellen. Change it one more time..

I don't think Josh & Cora are the best rhythm section he's ever had, but it's not like they're amateurs or anything. I feel like a lot of the hate for them is merely because of the band they followed.

considering how often he's been playing with them all lately, i'd say they all qualify as "current" band members.

Don't crack on the band. I liked it. Not one unnecessary person on the stage. Sheila is always a MAJOR plus.

This was a great line up, hands down.Renato,Rhonda,SHELIA,Mr. Haynes; there's nothing you can't do with that band. I think with all of these different line ups, Prince is sending (yet again) the signal he's been sending since the Revolution disbanded....it ain't about my bands, it's about my music.
Really, we might see Andre and Dez pop up at some gig at anytime... Xpect the un X pected! Who ever said Prince has lost it - has lost it. The Kid's still got game!
