I thought it was cute when Prince said, "I Love this show,"
When Tavis said, "Prince is the best, Amen?" I raised my hand to the TV, and said, "Amen." "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

The BEST Prince interview ever. Thank you Prince. "So strange that no one stayed at the end of the Parade..." - Wendy & Lisa's "Song About" on their 1987 self-titled album.

As he said in the past he had to find self to move foward and this time around
the support and feelings he has had was very healing for he is now becoming an a galant humble and to him His music was expression of feelings and emotions that all of us took little pieces for or own healing understandings and feelings and it is nice to see that he felt at ease with Mr Travis to share what he got out of this journey he shared with us i always like to read a good book and then try to see a movie or play on that title then see if the way i dreamed the story is the same or different than my version so it is cool to see the music notes are following his soul I truly enjoyed the interviews but like girl scout cookies they only show up once a year and you thing you have enough to last but then before you know it your marking the calendar for next year .PLease Mr P share more cookies

It was neat to see him in a real-person sense (if that makes sense). There were moments in the second interview where he was just down to earth, joking with Tavis, that was fun to watch.

Really? People keep saying this. I thought the first interview he did with Tavis in '98 was much better. [Edited 4/30/09 22:46pm] "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

Well, if your earlier "donations" to the TV host's foundation had garnered an appreciation from him, I'm guessing you'd also feel elation during the conversation.
It was the farthest thing possible from a news interview. Prince's friendship and donations practically paid for the softballs Tavis threw him. How many times did he call Prince "the greatest?"

Really? Where do you get "news interview" from, Tavis' show is a talk show and that is what he andPrince did, talk. As far as "donations," I'm inclined to think Prince performed at the SOBU event for his fans. I think others would agree. Don't you remember everyone on this board clamouring for Prince to do a show for non-celebs? Not to mention, performing is what he does for a living, hello....

Smiley's very often has political figures on his, and he's constantly addressing political issues as a pundit (you might recall his ardent support for Hilary Clinton during her presidential run and how Tom Joyner Morning Show listeners gave him heat for it). At any rate, he should have disclosed at the start of the interview(s) that Prince has been a strong financial supporter of his foundation, just to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest. Instead, it just made his worship of Prince all the more suspect.

Completely agree.I thought that Prince waffled on about a load of crap! I almost turned it off & that is a first 4 me.I hung on in there in case he performed as his acoustic performance with Wendy was very special last time he was on the show. Also Prince seemed to be trying 2 hard 2 give intellectual answers as he kept pausing & stumbling his words.Tavis is the worst US interviewer IMO as his fawning & sucking up 2 Prince is embarrassing 2 watch! Wave Ur Wild Sign High U`all.

Wave Ur Wild Sign High U`all. Pausing...Yes....Stumbling...No! Pausing to Think about what he is about to say (So many people on this site don't.) Stumbling...definately not. The man is intelligent. As far as what he said about chem trails, it's not totally untrue. It has alot to do with our ozone layer and our atmosphere. do some research. Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.
