Sexual freedom was the law, more sex was better wife sharing and into the early 80's sexual activity with children was allowed. They were wide spread and of course sex was the way to gain new members. the boy who was to supercede the cult group leader R. Rodriquez as a boy had sex with the women and even ended up having sex with his own mother. Most of this information didn't come out until years later about the kids though. But does anyone know where Prince got the idea of naming the Family the Famly? a snippet from Sly and the Family...? Kids who were part of that cult often turned to drugs as a way to deal with the sexual abuse. River Phoenix, his siblings and his parents belonged to the Family. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

The blue floral tele picured here is a custom job made by Roger Sadowsky His Royal Badness has quite a few Hohner teles, all destinguishable from each other in detail and purpose. Hohner also supplied him with new examples during the "Purple rain" and "Parade" tours. All of them in that translucent ocher yellow with the leopard pickguard. http://www.photopix.ch/gu...e&Itemid=2 But Prince also owned a special one off. http://www.photopix.ch/gu...7&Itemid=8 Prince started using this guitar in 1980. Its unmistakeable funk rhythm sound has graced just about every Prince recording since. Amazing when you take into account the fact that this guitar was a cheap alternative to Fenders Telecaster model. Prince fell in love with its quirky looks and honking funk tone and has never let it out of his sight for long. He has several of these guitars, most of which have had the necks replaced over the years due to the fact that he has worn them out! Even some of the guitars with replaced necks are starting to look worn – a clear indication of just how much Prince loves these guitars. In recent years Prince has changed the pickups in his Hohners, he now has Australian made "Kinman" pickups (these are noiseless pickups but are still passive and retain that vintage sound). But for a long, long time the pickups were standard. With the Hohner being a ‘cheap’ guitar, the pickups weren’t exactly quiet. Noisy pickups combined with Prince’s love of ‘Boss’ effects pedals made for a sound engineers nightmare !

The music was being developed as early as PR but the band wasn't assembled till ATWIAD: 1/2 the member of the Family were from the Time:Jerome, Jellybean, St Paul the Parade album/movie was being developed/worked at the same time of the release of ATWIAD, so much was happening at that time. From my understanding the Family album Mazarati and the Sheila E album were 2 be released in connection with Parade, the Family was recording and rehearsing while Prince was in France shooting the UTCM movie. I liked how the Family had Prince & the Revolutions paisley & silk pajamas look from Parade High Fashion I know a sexy little girl She's never in the low class world This woman is all the way vogue High Fashion is where her money goes She dines at Le Dome up on the strip Cheap liquor never touches her lips Her brandy's imported every week No problem, 7,000 easy High Fashion is where her money goes High Fashion - This girl is all the way vogue She's never in the low class world High Fashion - Stuck up little rich girl High Fashion High Fashion, yeah I met her dancin' at Le Dome I offered dinner at my home She said no, all of her friends laughed Funny how the laughin' stopped when I flashed all the cash I had (I'm talkin') $1900 is 2 much cash 2 hold One of my boys had 2 carry half, now honey U know that's bold Wait a minute! She had the nerve 2 ask what kinda car I had "Honey, I'm ridin' in back of a Rolls Royce limo custom-painted plaid!" High Fashion is where my money goes High Fashion - Honey, I'm all the way vogue I'm never in the low class world High Fashion - And I just love little rich girls Hot Station - I took the child 2 my crib Donation - Do U take or do U give? She took one look at the swimmin' pool I said "I'll donate" - We were 2 swimmin' fools High Fashion is where our money goes High Fashion - All the way vogue We're never in the low class world High Fashion - Don't be a little stuck up rich girl All the way vogue I'm all the way vogue © 1985 Parisongs Music - ASCAP August 13 , 1985 "First Avenue "Minneapolis The Family First Stage 1.Susannah's pajamas, 2.Yes 3.River run dry 4.Desire 5.High fashion 6.Instrumental jam (inc.Pink panther theme) 7.Nothing compares 2 U 8.The screams of passion 9.Mutiny/Holly Rock [Edited 4/28/09 6:31am] [Edited 5/7/09 10:33am] The filming of Under the Cherry Moon actually contributed to the demise of the Family. Prince took Susannah, Jerome, Eric and Miko to Paris for filming and recording. Leaving St.Paul wondering what was next for them. It ended with a phone call between St.Paul and Prince. Mazarati was Brown Mark's project done under Prince's nose and never really favored by him at all. He gave them "Kiss" but reclaimed and added to Parade as an afterthought. He never thought it worked and has played with it continuously in live performances. We all know he loves him some Sheila E. though!!! That's his true road dog even after all this time they still playing together! When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

DETROIT FREE PRESS
Published: Sunday, March 30, 1986 Section: FTR Page: 5C PRINCE TAKES A CUE FROM HIS PAST AND GETS BACK TO THE DANCE FLOOR GARY GRAFF; DONNA OLDENDORF Parade -- Prince (Paisley Park/Warner Bros.): Prince takes stock of the various directions he has explored during his eight-year recording career and integrates them into an intriguing and, ultimately, entertaining work. He brings his music back to the dance floor of "Dirty Mind" and "1999" without getting trapped by the same old steps. He also retains the psuedo-psychedelic edge -- and makes better use of it -- than he did on last year's album, "Around the World in a Day." And he checks any pretensions by managing to keep his sense of humor and fun throughout the record. The only thing missing is the hard rock guitar pyrotechnics of his breakthrough record, "Purple Rain," but they wouldn't really fit here, anyway. The gems on "Parade" -- due in stores on Monday -- are unquestionably the foot-movers, stuff like the quirky first single, "Kiss," "New Position," "Girls & Boys," "Mountains" and "Anotherloverholenyohead." But Prince is equally effective when he about-faces on "Venus De Milo," a soft piano-saxophone duet, and "Sometimes It Snows in April," a moody acoustic piece full of religious metaphors. The lulls come when Prince dips too far into psychedelia on the imitative "Wonder U," "Christopher Tracy's Parade" and "Under a Cherry Moon," songs written more as accompaniment for the visuals of Prince's upcoming film, "Under a Cherry Moon," than as listening pieces. Still, the bulk of "Parade" is listenable and enjoyable, a confirmation of Prince's place as a superior melodist, arranger and player as well as a celebration of his creativity.

Sometimes It Snows In April Tracy died soon after a long fought civil war Just after I'd wiped away his last tear I guess he's better off than he was before, A whole lot better off than the fools he left here I used 2 cry 4 Tracy because he was my only friend Those kind of cars don't pass U every day I used 2 cry 4 Tracy because I wanted 2 see him again But sometimes, sometimes life ain't always the way... Sometimes it snows in April Sometimes I feel so bad, so bad Sometimes I wish life was never ending And all good things, they say, never last Springtime was always my favorite time of year A time 4 lovers holding hands in the rain Now springtime only reminds me of Tracy's tears Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain He used 2 say so strong unafraid 2 die Unafraid of the death that left me hypnotized No, staring at his picture I realized No one could cry the way my Tracy cried Sometimes it snows in April Sometimes I feel so bad Sometimes, sometimes I wish that life was never ending And all good things, they say, never last I often dream of heaven and I know that Tracy's there I know that he has found another friend Maybe he's found the answer 2 all the April snow Maybe one day I'll see my Tracy again Sometimes it snows in April Sometimes I feel so bad, so bad Sometimes I wish that life was never ending But all good things, they say, never last All good things that say, never last And love, it isn't love until it's past
