what if one of the ONA-L discs gets scratched and skips? Uh oh! That would mean to replace it one would have to buy a whole new box set--it wouldn't be like having to buy a 16 dollar cd all over again. Better hurry up and burn these! "Climb in my fur."

I don't have that problem. NPGMC sent me two copies by mistake. Finally, their stupidity has paid off...

Moderator | I do that as well.
As soon as I get an album I burn it to a cheap CD. If you buy them in spools of 100 they pan out to be about 20 cents each. Play it in the car/work/studio whatever. When I'm sick of it, I randomly give it to a friend. There seem to be a lot of Prince fans at work, but they don't come here, and they don't join the club or even know about it. weird. So I'm known as the "Prince Fix" guy when an album comes out, they know one of them will find it on their desk after a couple of weeks. I don't make more than the one copy though. If they want it so bad, they can pay for it themselves. I know some of these guys make more money than me. I'm starting to find a lot of people that don't even buy albums anymore. They just get elsewhere. I can't do that. I need the whole thing. Artwork and all. Last time I lent someone a CD, (Parade) I got it back with a coffee stain on the cover, and a scratched disk. (deep one at that) ruined. The song under the cherry moon skips all the way through. I still haven't re-purchased it. It's been like 7 years now. All Rights Reserved. |

I need to start doing this cuz all my Prince cds are in my cd player... and since this was before the days that I collected, I have no idea where the cd cases are. The booklets are all scrunched into the cdplayer book for the player. I treat my cd's and vinyl like a bubblin crude. Oil that is. Black gold. Texas tea. Once they make it into my 200 cd jukebox they don't come out. They've been in that player for over 4 years now. The only action they see is when the laser feels them up. Now that it's been filled up for years when I get a new Prince cd, I gotta play survivor and shit to see which cd gets kicked outta the jukebox to make room for a new P joint. But I hear ya though. I've always been appalled to find friends who have their cds laying around without any protection whatsoever. All stacked on top of each other, naked and exposed to the elements, scratches, dust, dirt... Mhm mhm mhm . Aight Jed but yeah I should treat ma babies with more gentleness..."try a little tenderness--when cds get weary"-Otis BUT! I had a friendship damn near end recently cause some fool tried to throw a dvd disc on some other shit with without a case. We fought so hard I dont think I've recovered yet. "Climb in my fur."

Ever notice how us folks who are serious about music get all emotional about the way some other folks treat their cd's?
I used to be highly annoyed with the way my brother left his sitting around, prone to scratches because he'd lay them down laser side on a surface. Then there are those breakup stories where one half of the duo runs off with either the most cd's, or the "desert island"-like cd's. All that other relationship stuff could be forgivable (for most), but the fact that they RAN OFF WITH MY CD'S??? No! I've never been in that situation before, but I hear the same horror story all the time after breakups about cd's/albums. I won't even let my relatives borrow my music because I don't usually get it back. And I don't feel bad about it! It's THEIR FAULT! :::rant mode off::: [This message was edited Tue Dec 10 12:57:33 PST 2002 by Supernova] This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.
