Oh jeez, just looked on Wiki and she's only 15! I'm going to Hell! She looked older on Jonathan Ross the other night. Don't think that'll wash in court though.

At least the last time I shagged a 15 year old I was only 14. I'm going for a really hot shower now and may take a wire brush and some bleach.

I don't particularly like Madonna but I don't go to her site and slag her off...That would be a waste of my time shrug

Occasionally I do it here instead lol

Thing with Madonna though is that when she picks the right producer she's great. William Orbit was a bad choice if you ask me but it sure made that album unique. She's headstrong and seems to know what she's doing.

That Miley (?) Sirus was on telly the other night. She's a bit full-on ain't she!? Wouldn't mind slipping her one (bit too thin though) but sure as hell couldn't spend a whole weekend with her. Far too confident and that would annoy the fuck out of me after a while. She has Ross Geller's teeth too: that episode where he whitened them and they glowed in the UV light. Not that that would be a problem while she was noshing down on my peenie.

ill

Even if she were of age : keep it to yourself!

And what's with everyone hating on Miley's confidence? Heaven forbid!

How many of you responding have been fans for 30 years? Just curious....You probably just came along for the ride in the last few years....

While a fan since 1979 my first Prince concert was in 1983, Prince the Time and Vanity 6. Followed by 1984 of Prince and Sheila E. Those were exciting times for sure.

I will forever be a fan but my comments still stand.

25 years and counting with my 1st concert being the hit n run tour in 86 and in all of those years, the only album that sucks 2 me is planet shit...

so 2 answer ur thread question..NO these albums do not suck..maybe it's u that has changed in taste of music and because ur comparing his albums in the past 2 the new, could very well b ur problem right there.
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I agree with him in the sense, that Prince does not respect all his fans very much. The new albums have still not been released overseas (Except via the website, with its admission prices steep for poorer OECD countries and third world fans in Latin America and Africa) and when they finally are they are going to be at hiked prices (Ie for 3 full CDs, and no choice for those who don't want Brias CD), whereas the USA fans gots theirs on March 29 at a reduced price. What have foreign fans done for this snub. Every other album arrived at the same time as the USA (Except the first two, as he wasn't known out of the states), and now we have to wait 6 weeks later.
Plus judging by the griping they are not even worth the wait. Why can't Prince acknowledge and respect his fans, instead of trying to exploit them all the time, extorting money oyt of them for substandard albums and expensive marketing ploys (Eg Mediocre books and CDs, Prince Opus etc), and then shutting down fansites, videos and any depictions of him. I am starting to think we are all brainwashed by this imp.

did u hear the rest of world complain how planet shit was offered in a newspaper free sans the price of the newspaper while other countries had 2 actual buy the whole album?

Does that mean that you think that your opinion is more value as far as this music goes is better than mine. Well, just where is your new album with your "official" Minneapolis sound at? I really want to hear what you have for me to hear that is the "official" Minneapolis sound. I'm waiting.... Still waiting... Got nothing yet.

1999 - Prince
What Time Is It? - The Time
The Time - The Time

These are three (3) VERY good examples that you should listen to to learn what the REAL Minneapolis Sound is. Cool? Cool. Now, school's in!! Go learn something, bub.

so ur saying that prince should have stayed with the sounds from 1981-1982 and just kept staying in that time frame from then until now? falloff

WOW!!

no it doesn't. I think Lotusflow3r is a pretty consistent album from start to finish but there are songs on MPLSound that i love more than all of the songs on Lotusflow3r. But I can see myself loving Lotus more in the end.

For every new Prince CD we get the sad fan who claims that Prince has suddenly lost it but will claim he had it 2 cds ago. Which conflicts with the other fan who says he lost it last CD but has reclaimed it this CD.

Then u have the he lost it in 88 or he lost it after the gold experince or he lost it by following TRC with musicology or he lost it when he did TRC.

No one ever stops to consider maybe just maybe they themselves have lost it. What ever "it" is.

In my humble opinion Lotus Flower is the best of the bunch. Mplsound is ok, and I agree with Nick somewhat. It can't compare to the origins of the Minneapolis Sound. But what I don't get about posters like Nick, and many others that post here is that if you are not feelin' it, why in the hell are you visiting and posting on a Prince related website?

For example, I think Soulja Boy or whatever his name is,is a freakin' clown and his music is horrible. But I don't have time to go to a soulja boy fan site and post about how much he sucks. Even artists I used to follow; let's say Michael Jackson. I lost interest in his music after Thriller, I haven't liked anything since then but I don't waste my time visiting MJ fan sites to bitch and moan about how his music sucks now

I guess I just don't understand. If you don't like an artists music anymore or you think it sucks, why lurk on a fan site to talk about that?

Things that I don't like anymore or "suck" to me, I leave in the past and have no time for and just don't pay attention to....

Sorry, just venting.....
[Edited 4/24/09 23:29pm]

Taurus----Do we all have to be like stepford children--never able to disagree or express an opinion. I am still a fan..just disappointed in his choices of lead singles, choice of barely hummable or singable melodys, choice of inconsistent music, and frustrated that he cannot get major airplay anymore. The Super Bowl gig was great a few years back since many people after a certain age dont even know who he is....and that in my opinion is ashamed. So no i am not hating on Prince, i am just disappointed in some of his business and music ventures but also equally disappointed in main stream music and radio. After you reach a certain age they just dont play you anymore and that is a sad but true fact.
[Edited 4/26/09 14:27pm]

4 u the superbowl was great and 4 me it was horrendous? u know y? cause he played nothing current just old shit. and it seems that's what u like more then the current. it's okay 2 do that, but just admit it stop trying 2 say his lastest material isn't on par. u set the xpectation bar 2 high everytime u hear his music and that's where it fails. take each album as it's own and not what came b4 it and u'll b fine

Im a big advocate of people saying whatever they feel about something and I certainly dont think we all have to feel the same way...I like PE..people give me a hard time about that all the time around here lol ANd I cant hear the song solo without my ears protesting...I get told off for saying that too lol But at the end of the day we all have different tastes.
I don't agree with all of what u said...but I bet my bottom dollar very few people around Prince tell him anything but what he wants to hear and even if someone was honest with Prince about what they think about his music...that dosent mean their "honest" opinion is going to be the same as ure's. They may dig everything he does and that is their honest feelings on the subject...where as u honestly don't like it. So once again its just different opinions. U just can force people to think the way u do shrug
But as as AUssies say " Good Onya" for being honest thumbs up!

...and so did Planet Earth. (future baby mama-- please hardly a prince classic. Is there no one in his life that will be honest with him about his music. Everything sounds the same now or he goes off in these jazzy bluesy riffs which have never worked for him. The last album that was consistently good was 3121 and Musicology. And for those that may remember, i think Clive had the right idea by pairing him with contemporary artists and producers in RAve in2 the Joy Fantastic Album. While the album may not have been marketed properly, the CD actually made him relevent again somewhat. He blamed the label but he himself bore some of the blame since this was his confusing TAFNAP(sp) days. I know for him it may not be about the radio play or album sales anymore but i find no joy in his music.

I thought I would NEVER EVER say id rather listen to one of the current formula acts rather than Prince. But that day has come for me at least. My teenage daughters were loving the older stuff and I was trying to create my own new generation of Prince fans but when my daughter heard Planet Earth she said... this sucks Dad..and when i purchased the new CD at Target and we played it several times she said and i quote "what happened to him, it is the same old sound." Is there no one to say to Prince, your single choices have been horrific?? I am sure you all have seen the Box of Chocolates Video- OMG---that doesnt make any sense no matter how much you drink or smoke....and just to get it all off my chest....There is obviously no one in his life that has a say to edit his music to make it coherent, crisp and radio friendly. We get 6 min meandering songs that might be better if tightened up to 3.45. He has the freedom now to write and distribute whenever he wants to...but i wonder if this was a good thing or not. Sometimes having parameters to work within makes you better.

Dont get me wrong i have been a Prince fan for 30 years beginning in 1979 with I wanna be your Lover, i've followed him through every band change, name change, outfit change, label change, music club change, experimental phase change.....but in the future (?) I think i have earned the right to complain as what I see as a sad state of affairs.

AMEN! I'm sure some of the crazies will crucify us for saying so, but I agree. The new album is lackluster, at best, and lukewarm at worst. No life, no funk, just plain ugh. His older stuff is the only stuff I will listen to from him anymore....

I completely agree....I broke down and bought this hunk of shit. I laughed to myself when I went back to the same Target a few weeks later and noticed that his album is not selling. Gee, could it be that the music is bland? The lyrics are mediocre and contrived. Simple minded and not very thought provoking. It's like he just threw it all together just to put something out. Maybe I'm just getting older, but I can't and don't relate to his recent output.

I find myself skipping songs, and then taking the CD out of the player altogether, doesn't matter which one it is. This new music is CRAP compared to what he used to produce. Anyone who says differently is just a sheep who probably believes that Prince reads these forums and is waiting psychotically for him to notice their praise, or you need to get your frickin' ears checked.

What I would like to know is why people feel the need to comment on the worst song(s) on the album(s) when his ratio for good songs to bad remains the best of any artist I've ever listened to.
I don't dwell on Jughead when I can jam to 'Gett Off' ...
Same with 'Ol' Skool Company vs 'No More Candy for You' ....
Or 3121 vs. hmmmm, I like everything on 3121 ....

Nope, not the case at all.

I often use Radiohead as an example of a musical act that has gotten better with each release. I don't expect them to put out songs that sound just like "Creep" in 2009. But, guess what? They put out songs like "House of Cards" or "Nude" or "All I Need" that I like even better.

They do so without playing crazy little mind or legal games with their fanbase. On their latest online offering, they allowed folks to download the new album for free. (Remember when Prince talked about freeing the music? They actually did.) Meanwhile, Lotusflow3r.com customers are clamoring already about the lack of content Prince offers in exchange for their hard-earned, recession-timed $77.

I'm sure there are some among Radiohead's die-hard fans who might prefer "Karma Police" or "My Iron Lung" to the In Rainbows gems I just mentioned. And, they might get as much grief about it as Nick has been getting on this thread.

It's just hard to imagine, though, because R'head doesn't come off like a bunch of narcissistic millionaire babies in heels and makeup who've invested as much of their egos and persona into their hits as they have their considerable musical chops. Like Prince does.

Personally, I like the Lotusflow3r discs -- among the three, I got all 17 tracks that I dig onto a disc. There are maybe 5 that I'll seek out with any real regularity.

But I can play just most of the Radiohead discs straight through and love 'em (not so much Pablo Honey).

Do I think Radiohead's guys could totally funk on a cut like "Lady Cab Driver?" No indeed. Prince excels in musical diversity. It's just that the overall quality of his output is usually hit-or-miss.

Prince says his fans are musically sophisticated. That a portion ... a substantial portion ... of his die-hard fans think his stuff has been subpar for at least the past decade might seem silly to some. But, to me, so is continually giving him tons of money for his online ventures. doh!

But, to me, so is continually giving him tons of money for his online ventures. doh!
