Prince recording under an alias not wanting this to be known? Hello,
are there any records out which later it was found out that this was actually Prince, but the record got released under a different name. Please, no "The Time" or "The Family", or "Tanja Seville", what I mean is records where Prince is playing all instruments and also singing, but under an alias. Maybe just club-related 12inchs... "Camille" maybe was intended to be something like this...???

the 2 Madhouse records fit that description, but there's no vocals on them. |

Maybe this:
the Black Album was intended to be by a no name "secret artist", all black cover and no artist mentioned. Release december 1987, but withdrawn as you know already. Later the album was released in 1994 for a limited time period. Btw. it's Taja Savelle, you spelled that wrong. Prince 4Ever.

Well, Sheila E's 'Romance 1600' has full band credits (4 Sheila's band), and it's really about 99% Prince.
But he did that regularly... especially with The Time, and with his own 'Around The World in a Day' and 'Parade', which Dr.Fink just recently confirmed was nearly ALL Prince. But going beyond Prince's productions, I'm not sure. As far as the parameters of your original question, I don't think there was any release with him playing everything and singing, but under an alias. "He's a musician's musician..."

Prince has considered releasing records under pseudonyms before (like "Camille", "The Rebels" or "The Black Album" for instance), but he's never actually done it. The closest released albums to a pseudonym release would be the 2 Madhouse albums. Of course there are numerous associated artist albums that are basically 'Prince' albums, just with someone else singing the lead vocals. [Edited 6/9/09 7:24am]

The Rebels was an alternate group that Prince, Dez, Fink, Z played in, as another outlet for music. They recorded an album's worth of songs, but was never released. It was really what New Power Generation records (Goldnigga, Exodus, NewPowerSoul) are today. It was the band, but without the emphasis on "PRINCE". I THINK they recorded the original "Tick Tick Bang". But their music was very funk punk, fast music. Kinda like taking "Jack U Off and "Sister", blending that style and making an album out of it.

Ufoclub said it was in the PRESS release, not the liner credits. There is nothing in the liner credits. And really, this whole question is kind of obvious. What's funny is if Prince were really trying to hide anything, he'd have used names a lot less evocative than "Alexander Nevermind." How about "Robert Jones" or "Peter Kulinowski?" Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I have wondered lately about songs Lovesexy & NPG era songs that were not credited as Prince-only. When I heard him play Strollin live, it made me think it probably wasn't Levi on guitar as I had thought. Same with the bass on Alphabet St. And those also seem to be drum machines. How about the Time's early work? My Legacy
