There are cell companies whose message says "Press 2 to page this person or leave a brief message". So maybe it's something like that...or maybe it just flowed better in the song than "leave me a voice mail".  | |

It means ya called, I rang, ya got the message, calls back no delay (2 way). Nobody blocked straight up communication on the dang phone.
