Train Very funky song. Ole school' Parade era Prince. Damn WB should've just let him release Sign O' the Times as Dream Factory and been done with it! "Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?" R.I.P. Prince You've finally found your way back home. Well Done.

Or better yet, WB should have let him release Crystal Ball instead of SOTT.

The version that had 'Train' on it was on Dream Factory. I just like the Crysatal Ball album which also could have been released at that time.

'dream factory' was mastered for release in mid- 1986 but then prince disbanded the revolution and decided to shelve the album. he carried over many of the tracks to 'crystal ball,' which wb refused to put out. he then shaved it down to two discs and called it 'sign o the times.' in the years since, edited studio versions of all the remaining 'crystal ball' tracks save for 'rebirth of the flesh' and 'the ball' have been officially released. there are quite a few 'dream factory' tracks which have still never been officially released. it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die

Is that the song that goes "Theres a train that's leaving in the morning, that will take you down to Santa Fe....."? I abdicated the throne in Ithaca, but now I am...

He gave "Train" to Mavis Staples for her Paisley Park album, "Time Waits for No One". Unfortunately, he took out the big, echoey train-on-the-tracks sounding drums and replaced them with a much simpler beat on her version.

Too bad, that takes away some of the atmosphere imo. "Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?" R.I.P. Prince You've finally found your way back home. Well Done.

Train Prince spent three days in his home studio, July 7th to 9th taping "Train" for the Dream Factory project. It was later revamped for use by Mavis Staples. The version released on Time Waits For No One retains the basic tracks of Prince's original recording for Dream Factory. The song uses an unusual drum machine sound to mimic a train engine, as well as a traditional R&B horn performance by Eric Leeds and Atlanta Bliss. Train C'mon man, get your bags, we got 2 go Man, tell that girl goodbye, let's get out of here! Woo! I wanna talk 2 U 'bout this love affair (Talk 2 U, said I wanna talk 2 U) Is it really true that U don't care? (Really true, tell me is it really true?) Seem like every day U grow farther away, uh huh (Every day, seem like every day) Tell me what can I say 2 make U stay? (Tell me what can I say, make U stay) Cuz if U really don't love me anymore I just don't know what 2 say There's a train that's leavin' in the morning That will take U straight 2 Santa Fe If U feel the thing we got just can't go on Then I won't stand in your way I won't stand in your way {x2} No, no I'm so in love with U, U're all I wanna be (I'm so in love with U, U're all I wanna be) Whenever U go away, baby, U take a part of me, yes U do (Whenever U go away, U take part of me, yes U do) Man gotta do what he gotta do But remember, baby, wherever U go, I'm with U, oh (I'll be with U) Whoo (Cuz I need U) If U really don't love me anymore I just don't know what 2 say Cuz there's a train that's leavin' in the mornin' That will take U straight 2 Santa Fe If U feel the thing we got just can't go on I won't stand in your way {x3} Oh! C'mon man, get your bags, we got 2 get outta here! If U really don't love me anymore I just don't know what 2 say (I ain't got nothing 2 say) There's a train that's leavin' in the mornin' That will take U straight 2 Santa Fe (Take U, take U on your way) If U feel the thing we got just can't go on I won't stand in your way {x4} C'mon baby, U gonna take this witcha? Train, train If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I like Crystal Ball better too, but if Prince didn't cut out some songs to release Sign O' The Times instead of the 3 lp opus, most probably we wouldn't have had Lovesexy, and maybe not even the Black Album. To me, Eye No is a lot better then The Ball. [Edited 5/10/09 4:56am]

Yes it is. I haven't heard it yet, but the original version is one of the best songs Prince & The Revolution composed.

I LOVE this song!
I made my own "Crystal Ball" mix with songs from SOTT, Dream Factory, The Family, and Madhouse.....fantastic "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."
