To me, since he's been back in Cali, his music seems much more happier. It's not like the music he made in Minneapolis. I think in Minneapolis, he was too sheltered from the real world. At least in Cali, it's a LA LA world. I wish I lived in LA, I would attend every Prince event imaginable... No you wouldn't. I live in LA and the best I can do is catch a glimpse of the gate of 77 Beverly Park. LA is two different places: one for those on the list, and one for those not on the list.

I live right in the middle of the original Prince fantasy land. His former purple residence is down the street from me on Lake Reilly which is on the border of Chanhassen and Eden Prairie. He used to have a rather traditioanal 1.5 story house on Lake Reilly which was torn down after his father died in the early 2000s. This was indeed the purple house. It was probably about 3500 square foot house...modest by today's standards. The lake is a beautiful one which is sometimes confused with Lake Minnentonka which is ~15 minutes north on 101. The studio in the basement lead to some beautiful & funky albums--Controversy and 1999. Purple Rain was recorded live up the street in an Eden Prairie Warehouse. His most recent house was off of Galpin which was VERY, VERY, VERY isolated until about 2004. Back in the late 90s no one lived within 2 miles of his house on Galpin or Paisley Park. Brother Larry Graham now has a house next to the Galpin house in Chanhassen (from what I hear). This house was indeed razed around 2006 when he was going through the divorce with Mani. The rumor back in 2006 was Prince had the entire house demolished and than packed on 4 trailer trucks and delivered to Mani. As in...."here's the house you so desperately wanted." Not sure if he will ever build on these 2 properties but they are both indeed owned by Prince and are fenced in with surveillance cameras. I think he will ultimately sell the land and just keep Paisley Park as his residence and studio...it's big enough to accommodate several rock stars let alone Prince.

Unless he's changed something, PP never had residential quarters initially.

Unless he's changed something, PP never had residential quarters initially. the descriptions you read about always say it had apartments built in. you can see some of it in the 'love4oneanother' tv special, right? it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die

He has suitable living space in the upstairs office as well as the main level rooms near the "Love 4 One Another" room. The place is 10,000+ square feet. Needless to say, he could remodel and make some of it a place to crash while in town.

It seems to me that he really used Paisley Park/Minneapolis as a hideout or refuge from the business in the 1990's. He was happy to chill at home and not be in "The Dream Factory". Now he is playing the game and is in LA. He did the same in the 80's for awhile. [b]Don't worry...he put the skyline on his newest album (twice). To me, it's like The Terminator... he'll be back. Unless he's changed something, PP never had residential quarters initially. The Galpin house is just a memory, though the windmill might still be there. Paisley park does indeed have at least one bedroom and a full kitchen. I've been there and seen it. Plus, I took a huge shit in one of the bathrooms. It stunk real bad. I was kinda embarrassed. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

You know Kelvin, I have to consider Prince's aversion to his own past and how he's avoided and destroyed it for the sake of his "Time is a trick", and "If you don't remember the past, you don't get old" mantras/rants. Obviously demo-ing a house is an extreme measure in that self-prescribed religion, but Prince is an extreme person. That's not to say the tax argument isn't valid, because it may very well be true. He owns three properties, and if he's not residing and/or spending a lot of time in Chanhassen (MPLS) in general, it's a lot of extra money he's spending (and might not have), so it would be easier to just get rid of the source (an idea highly reflective in his life in general, as mentioned above) of the taxing. But even so...why not just sell the property? Why own a piece of land, with no house, pool, pond, or anything on it? It just seems like a rape of the land when I see that picture of the abandoned property. But maybe that's Prince's 20 acres, and he's holding onto it so the man doesn't take it. haha

When I was considering the tax issue, I was thinking about how in some states they charge u a homestead tax if you have a house on the property. If there is not a house on the property, he only would have to pay property taxes. Not sure how the Minnesota tax laws are, though. Also, think about it this way, Prince may not have wanted to get rid of the property because it may be pretty valuable or have some type of resources on it. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

We use to spent ALOT of our time hanging in Chanhassen when Prince
lived there. We saw him driving around MANY times.. and I have pictures and video's of his big lovely Yellow/trimmed purple house on the hill.. We were SO sad when he tore it down. We had heard that after he and Mayte's baby died Prince didn't like to spend alot of time there.. and even he and Mani didn't spend much time there... We talked to the Security guard there alot of times too. One of the guys was totally cool.. Prince always had Deer on His property and he would let me take pictures of them from the fence.. But the one guy was a jerk... LOL Now.. as far as the Paisley Park shows and Parties.. Wow.. they were awesome..... Prince use to always say he would NEVER leave Minnosota..... Makes me sad that he moved away from the real fans and the real people to hob knob with all the Hollywood phonies.. some thing he swore he would never EVER do. I'd love to see Prince do more in Chanhassen.. He seemed more "normal" there.....

I was under the impression that he tore down the house on Kiowa Trail (or whatever the name of that street was) that was purple, and had the Peace and Love sign on the gate. His father lived in the house after Prince moved to Galpin, and when John died, he tore it down. The house on Galpin was that Chiquita yellow, (since he was into yellow around that time), and was not torn down, I thought. nope all gone The last time I drove by there it had been painted white with black trim, after the yellow and purple. I heard he tore it down so the ex wouldn't get any money from it or the sale of it. Don't know how true that is. I haven't drove by it in a few years, I'll have to check it out for myself.
