chaos and disorder and new power soul

Who else thinks these are his only solid albums of the 90's?

I'm innocent smile Well from his 90's albums I've sampled, I find those two the strongest, though to me, nothing beats his late 70's through mid 80's material

I like about half of the Chaos & Disorder album:

Chaos & Disorder,
I Like It There,
Dinner With Delores,
The Same December,
Zannalee,
Had U

heart wink

Newpwer Soul is about his weakest album ever, only NEWS and Kamasutra are worse lol

They are not among his best 90s-albums but especially Chaos & Disorder is underappreciated. C & D presented a more experimental, edgy sound than the last years with interesting rock songs like the title track, I Like It There and The Same December. New Power Soul despite all the fillers gave us Come On and The One.

I dont think these two albums are his best of the 90's. I would say The Gold Experience is the best from that period with Come behind it. I love both albums though.

While I think you might be trolling on that question, you're way off base with New Power Soul.

His best work in the 90's is Exodus, Come, The Gold Experience, prince, and most of Chaos.

Emancipation is better as a 2 CD, or a harshly chopped single CD, set.

But those are the good albums from the 90's. D&P was a gearing up for better things, as much as NewPowerSoul was powering down from an otherwise great decade.

the general oppinion amongst fans seems to be that these two are in fact
his weakest releases from the 1990's.

i disagree with that but i also don't think they're amongst his better
or most memorable albums.

looking at individual songs, they do hold some absolute gems. stuff like
"the one", "come on", "wasted kisses", "i like it there", "into the light"
etc. are all well up to the usual high prince standard.

although NPS seems a well thought out 'party' album that prince crafted
specifically as such, Chaos & Disorder has always seemed a bit "off" to
me. like it would have needed 2 or 3 song changes to rise from a middle
of the road to an absolutely classic album.

here's how i would have loved to see the chaos and disorder album:

01. chaos and disorder
02. i like it there
03. the ride
04. dinner with delores
05. the same december
06. calhoun sq
07. zanalee
08. into the light
09. i will
10. da bang
11. empty room
12. had u

the 1995 version of empty room, an edit of the 11 min undertaker version of
the ride, and the early version of zanalee, without the 'effects'. not that
would have been one hell of a fierce rock album.

eek drool

From whatI understand. "Chaos and Disorder" was taken out of the Vault in order to fulfill Prince s contact with Warner Brothers. If I m not mistaken,It was the last of his albums put out with them. I don t feel it was a great album. it did have a few tracks that were strong. I particularly like "I rock Therefore I am" performed with Rosie and the NPG. cool

Hey! You will show the proper respect for the great Steppa Ranks!

I love Chaos And Disorder. It was the first Prince album I bought and I still think it's his best rock album.

Most of C & D is pretty good. I'd go along with some songs like Empty Room and the Ride being included.

Here's an interesting thought though, when C & D was released, were all of these songs new to people or had they been circulating as bootleg copies?

stop lying to yourself just to try and not go against prince. NPS you did not enjoy one bit and don't go and listen to it very often.

Harsh tone but true
