Well, funnily enough, I don't think that Prince is materialistic [of course it's a guess, I don't know him personally].
Let me explain: All his material stuff [clothes, cars, houses, etc], he needs it for his image and status as an artist, as a celebrity. Can you imagine him making the same career, having the same persona if he had been walking around in torn dirty jeans and cheap clothes? Sure the music would have been the same, but not the image [based on his fashion style, mystery, etc]. Or can he realistically now drive a Skoda car? But I think that essentially, existentially, as a Gemini [at least that's my preconceived idea of them:)], he doesn't need material things to feel complete. My guess is that were these things to be taken away from him, he wouldn't feel deprived for that, or a lesser human being, he wouldn't feel that he has lost something of himself, of his soul, self-esteem, etc. All these things and all that is valuable and necessary for the well-being of a Gemini are non-material, non-tangible. They are in the mind. Some people [other signs] need to have a house/home, a place they can call their own to feel grounded and stable within themselves. I don't think this is so much the case for Geminis. They are adaptable and feel at ease within themselves anywhere. So yes, he has a big house, because 1] he needs a roof above his head and 2] with his star status I can't imagine him living in a one-room apartment. But I don't think that his mental & emotional well-being depend on that big house - as it would for some other people/signs. So, as a person, existentially speaking, no I don't think that Prince is essentially materialistic. He cares about his music, his art, his loved ones, his religious/spiritual beliefs, his rights [non-tangible stuff, see?], but I don't think he cares about the color or size of his house/car/etc. Again, that's just my guess about him. At least, as a Gemini, I can confirm all this for myself:) dartluv5 said: Flo6 said: We both

1. Control freak
2. Obsessed with music 3. Play in a funk band, whilst also enjoying a wide variety of other styles. 4. Really quite shy and lacking confidence, but appear extrovert (especially in my teens). 5. A long period where I'd hang out with only musicians, often forsaking other people as mates in the process. Hmmm, that was cathartic!

Think of the money still owed to all those ex-Paisley Park staff, band members, co-writers who never received credit / financial reimbursement for their services? etc. If he was not materialistic he wouldn't leave people behind like that, whilst flaunting his obvious material gains. Shame on you Prince, I say.

The other thing that really springs to mind are his proclamations of "I don't care about hits anymore.." etc., then one album later he's "Tell me these aren't all hits!" / "I've got too many hits for ya..." etc. His talk at a Sheffield Arena show in '95 of "I have no financial problems..", before flashing his diamond rings for the audience / cameras. During promo appearances for Rave Unto the Joy Fantastic - him and Clive Davis back-slapping eachother and talking about how much money the album was gonna make them. In PUBLIC! Hmm...

Mmmm... I see what you are saying. Still, the non-payment to staff, this violation of the work contract and eventually of the professional ethical policies, I would tend to put that in the category of morality/moral conduct.

Yes, that's just what I was saying - this interest in money/gains/material things, it's part of his big celebrity image, his public persona. He is using it very cleverly imo.
