Turn me loose - Sodomy?

The only thing that I know of that is "illegal" in thirteen states is homosexual sodomy.Do you think this is what Prince is singing about?

Where do you people come up with this stuff? It's braggadocio. "Thirteen" has a harder sound to it that fluffing out "FIFteen" or "EIGHteen". It's more aggressive in how you have to say it. It's just what sounds good. Prince ain't researching how many states sodomy is still on the books as being illegal. Come on, already.

You're insane.

if Prince just wanted to sound cool he'd revert to using 17, which is a common theme in his works.

13 is either a nod to sodomy or it's just a random number--the notion that it has some emotional impact inherently more profound than 10,11, 12, or 3.14 is abstruse, or at the very least strictly conjecture.

Wasn't there a long drawn out thread about this a few months back...?

It was a pain in the ass then and...

If Prince wants to give a little nod to doing it in the butt.... so what. Many people do it in spite of what their religious beliefs are. For Christians (which JWs are more or less an off shoot of Christianity) it falls under scripture which basically states between husband and wife.. the bedroom is undefiled. ie as long as it is between man and wife and both parties are willing... all things go.

But he has never come out and said it was sodomy... He just says that what he would do to her is illegal in thirteen states...

You don't really know me

Actually, Biblically speaking "sodomy" covers everything that isn't penile-vaginal intercourse and so it's not even okay for a married heterosexual couple. shrug

Weren't the anti-sodomy laws struck off the books in 2003 or so? confuse

The song has nothing to do with "Sodomy." Prince is not going to sing about that.

"Turn Me Loose," is referring 2 letting him loose in her bed...The bleeding is Prince just getting raw about making love all night long. Prince is the romantic type that just acts all rough about it.

And even if she did bleed...I'm sure he'd pull some purple gauze out to give her the love doctor treatment. cool

You mean as opposed to every other sexual act he's mentioned? lol It's really not any worse than doin' it with his sister or stealing someone's wife-to-be and crusting up their wedding gown.

Just Googled 'against the law in 13 states' and this is what I got:

'13 states outlaw discrimination based on gender identity or expression.'

In light of some of his statements in interviews, maybe he meant this.

You need to reread your Bible. I'm not going to make this a big theological debate, but Hebrews says "The marriage bed is undefiled". The Bible also says that the man's body belongs to the woman, and likewise the woman's to the man. That means if the couple is married, and both are willing to pleasure the other, the WAY they do it is left to their imagination, not man's law.

No, dear. I think it's you that needs to brush up on your Biblical study, specifically the rules about forbidden acts. Sodomy, Biblically and even from an antiquated legal standpoint, means everything except that which could potentially lead to reproduction. That is, penile-vaginal intercourse. Is it stupid? Yes. But then, so is limiting sexual acts to married heterosexual couples. shrug

Sounds like a true Catholic. LOL God is a lot looser on rules than man makes Him out to be. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, THERE is liberty. Free your mind, and your ass will follow.

About the song, I totally agree. Why would Prince go on about sodomy when he writes songs about lesbianism and "HEAD"? HELLO!?! "His tongue in the V of her love". "I'll go down on you all night long" HELLO?! Half the song "Come" is about how he'd lick her until she passes out.

Oh, believe me. I don't buy any of that holy bullshit. Just saying what it says. Personally, I think if there is a God He or She would be pretty fucking insulted at the things we've ascribed to Him, like the Bible, for one.

As a guy who has spent his entire life in church... which included a 15 year marriage to a minister.... I have studied the bible a lot and this subject had major ramifications on my marriage. I assure you that the Christian church is well divided on the subject of sex in marriage. Some ministries say the bedroom is undefiled and as I mentioned earlier... most things consensual including anal and oral sex is OK (and I agree with)... others wish to dictate what goes on in the bedroom (which is what my wife's church began to do) and will even go as far as to dictate positions... ie no dog style because thats how animals do it.

What they all looked down on was fetishes because a fetish represented a form of worship (though shall have no other god) and stuff like S&M... all of the 'perceived' demonic imagery.

And it is why I'm now single.. confused

hug That is a really unfortunate.

Sadly, some people think they have a right to control that aspect of others' lives, and they've got a handy prop -religion -to hide behind to do it.

Personally, I don't think sodomy is only a homosexual activity... I am just providing info available online, that specifically states that sodomy is "illegal" in many states, but homosexual sodomy is "illegal" in thirteen states.Personally, I was just bored and decided to find out what was illegal in 13 states. Imagine my surprise!
