He's 50 going on 51 soon, I think that whomever he marries, if he does, will have to realize that at his age he may not want kids. Music is his first love. Prince is like many of us in that our biggest strengths are also our biggest weaknesses. It is Prince's excentricities that at once drive his music to unbelievable heights and at the same time make it often inaccessible.
I have believed since 1984 that Prince is a connudrum: a person who simultaneously wishes to be A Deeply Private and Spiritual Being, The Biggest Rock Star in the World, and The Most Important Artist in the World. What may have ended up being his biggest failing is that, for a couple of seconds in 1984 it looked like he might actually be able to pull it off. But ultimately he could not and I believe these Three Sides of Prince have been at odds and pulling at each other ever since. I think he gets enormously frustrated when people don't understand Who He Is, yet he purposely works very hard to keep Who He Is a guarded secret. He has, since about 1985, buried himself deep inside Prince World and, as a result, has very little understanding of the world and people that exist Elsewhere. He has always relied on his Music to fulfill his emotional and spiritual needs, but he has always needed Massive Public Adoration to feel Complete. When his career faltered and he no longer recieved that Massive Public Adoration, he looked to Religion to fill that Void. But so much of the Spirituality of his Music is contradictory to where his Religion leads him, so his Conunndrum continues. So his Search continues.... | |
