So, that is 22,003 for the week?

And has there been any promotion outside of the U.S.?

Is it possible that over the summer people will be blasting LotusFlow3r on their car stereos?

with a 71 percent drop this week following a 60 percent drop last week
this project is dead and wont even reach 500,000 sold
the man should just do what the majority of the public wants and thats just go
away and retire

Don't you read the threads here....well let me update you Prince is on his own label and has no record company hence he has no radio play his video's are not on MTV,VH1 or main video shows...oh his album is not for download on itunes or amazon....

I'm sure i missed some other details but this may help you to get focused.. lol

We're living in a new era, folks.Very few artists actually sell alot of CDs these days.Just be happy with the sales so far.Prince was never really a big-seller anyway (with the exception of 'Purple Rain' and a few other albums).

If every artist who isn't selling well were to go away and retire,we would only be left with a few artists rolleyes If all you care about are the number of units sold, why are you even a Prince fan?

Not really.....here's the news...

Global music sales fell by more than 8% to $18.42bn (£12.67bn) in 2008, according to the body that represents the record industry worldwide.

Physical formats like CDs and vinyl performed particularly badly - dropping by 15% globally and 31% in the US.

Sales of digital formats like MP3s and ringtones grew by 24% worldwide but failed to make up the shortfall.

This is partly due to the lower price of downloads, but also because people tend not to buy entire albums online.

Most albums on this week’s chart nosedive in sales this week, but there are a select few that buck the trend. Kings of Leon’s American breakthrough, “Only by the Night”, moves up 31-18 on a 4% increase to 20K, while other albums that show staying power include Darius Rucker’s “Learn to Live” (+6%) and 3Oh!3’s “Want” (+10%). Jennifer Hudson’s performance on “American Idol” last week spurs a 36% jump in sales for her eponymous debut, which moves 103-42 on this week’s chart.

On the singles side, the biggest news is a #3 debut for Eminem on Hot Digital Songs with “We Made You”. The Black Eyed Peas’ “Boom Boom Pow” and Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb” hold the top two positions.

Next week, Rick Ross should lead the charts, with expected high debuts from the likes of Depeche Mode and Asher Roth.

This week’s Top 20 albums (courtesy of Billboard Communications)
1) Soundtrack “Hannah Montana: The Movie”

2) Day26 “Forever in a Day”

3) Rascal Flatts “Unstoppable”

4) Soundtrack “Twilight”

5) Various Artists “Now 30″

6) Jadakiss “The Last Kiss”

14) Nickelback “Dark Horse”

15) Prince “Lotusflow3r” biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin

16) U2 “No Line on the Horizon”

17) Carrie Underwood “Carnival Ride”

18) Kings of Leon “Only by the Night”

19) Kelly Clarkson “All I Ever Wanted”

20) The-Dream “Love vs. Money”

so basically if an artist cannot sell 500,000, especially in this day and age they should just stop right there and retire? rolleyes don't you think that's stupid.

If it was available on Itunes this project could still be in the top ten, but who cares.

Success isn't judged by sales anymore.

Well, it may not be getting any ad/promo this last week but that's certainly NOT true of the project overall. This release has had more tv promotion and visible advertisement than anything since Emancipation, imo.

LMFAO!!!!

Lotus Flow3r had such a circus revolving around the release you would have sworn Prince was releasing a Purple Snuggie!
This record had a major ad/promo campaign for both the record and the site.

Prince would never have charted high without it, but the numbers prove the fact that the record sucks and has zero staying power. If you've heard it you will know exactly what I mean!

Only Prince can release 3 records worth of material and get it all wrong.

It's amazing to say the very least, but sad too!

No ads/Promo.... Hahahahahahaha!!! BS

TO CATPARKER

Why don't you retire your account here and go jump off a bridge!

We all know that when Prince plays by the rules, its so freakin cool to be a Fan, but when he decides to release the music independently and not make much noise about the music, the ignorant statements like "RETIRE" come up!

Obviously Prince doesn't wanna hang by the strings of the man (anymore).
He's played the game for years and he's had great success with it, but there comes a time when an artist who doesn't feel like a machine (like the music business) is working for him anymore, so what the hell is wrong with taking control of your own career and doing whatever the hell he wants with it.

He doesn't OWE us anything. God blessed him with all his gifts and if ppl choose to follow then thats cool.
Why are ppl so interested in how many records someone sells or how high their records debuted on the charts????

Why...is there something lacking in your own soul!
Prince has stated before that he doesn't care, so just because you catparker feel Prince needs to retire and go away, keep in mind...you have an option too.

Prince still has his loyals and we wanna see him do well, but I could care less if the car next to me in traffic is blasting his new record.

I've got it, I love it and thats all that matters!
When he promotes his music probably with Videos on BET, MTV, VH1, and Radio, he'll have a HUGE MACHINE to get more ears on a regular basis hearing his music, but since he can't have it that way, being his own boss the indie way...he has to promote on shows like Leno, Ellen, and get Big Box Retailers like Target to spread the awareness and for a cd set, which has no air play or video play...its doing quite well.

Stop wishing Prince ill and if you don't like him anymore because he doesn't sell 1 million in a week or month. Then you can stop coming on sites like this and find some other artist who breaks records for your listening pleasure.

DAMN!
