"Feel Good" from Emancipation Outtakes

I can't think what this song reminds me of, but it has a definite vibe of another Prince song or two. Thoughts?

I don't know Chaka's version at all. It's def a Prince tune I'm hearing. I can't for the life of me figure it out.

he had the right idea with 2020.. but it still lacked.. i guess that's why it's an outtake.. but he was in an interesting direction with that one.

I like it. It has a familiar Prince vibe, though I'm not sure what other specific song has the same DNA.

Feel Good
Created around a funky bassline, this groove by was on an early configuration of Emancipation and performed a few times in March 1995 aftershows. The lyrics are rapped and make a reference to Prince's last Warner Bros. contract ($10 million upfront per album) and fans recording his live shows.

Feel Good

And just like that, we comes with the phat
And just like that, we comes with the phat
Crazy molecular structure that acts on that ass
Like U know it's supposed 2
Movin' more booties than a bull run past U
Leavin' U with a brand new state of mind
And by the time U figure it out, U wanna shout
All your inhibitions U go'n do without

(Don't U wanna feel good?) - And just like that, we come phat
(Don't U wanna feel good?) - And just like flow, now U know
(Don't U wanna feel good?) - And just like this, U get a kiss
(Don't U wanna feel good?) - I gotsta feel good, feel good

And just like flow, now U know
Talkin' another 10 million every time they want this flow
And it's good 2 go
Cuz I don't check 4 critics if they checkin' 4 my ego
So come 2 the show
And bring your tape recorder cuz U oughta have a copy of the…
Yo, wait a minute – no!
In 1999 I'll be free, so…

(Don't U wanna feel good?) - Just like that, we comes phat
(Don't U wanna feel good?) - And just like flow, now U know
(Don't U wanna feel good?) - Just like this, U get a kiss
(Don't U wanna feel good?) - I gotsta feel good, huh, feel good

Feel good {x2}
Don't U wanna feel good?

And just like this, U get a kiss
And I got plenty others if U're on my list
Santa get U all wet 'cept he's using snow
I can make U slippery with the icicle, oh
Check it out, check it out, check it out, we should go
Down the main street of personality, baby
I'll give U an ultimatum 4 a definite maybe
But what I much rather know

(Don't U wanna feel good?) - And just like that, we comes phat
(Don't U wanna feel good?) - And just like flow, now U know
(Don't U wanna feel good?) - Just like this, U get a kiss
(Don't U wanna feel good?) - I gotsta feel good, huh, feel good

(Don't U wanna feel good?) {repeat in BG}
Feel good
Don't U hear me, baby, talkin' about the feel good?
Yeah, yeah, mm
Now wait a minute

(Don't U, don't U, don't, don't U wanna feel good?)

U won't get cussed out, U won't get beat (Feel good)
U can save your money and the sheet
I'm just here 2 let U know, baby
Anytime U wanna go
We can come phat (Don't U wanna?)

I still refer to it regularly for information and lyrics myself! I wasn't there in the beginning. I think I joined about the time New Power Soul or Rave came out.

Quick story: I remember purposely NOT participating in The Rainbow Children lyrics. I told Ted I just was not going to be a part of that album. I would, however, serve if we needed a tie breaker (everyone votes on the draft, makes corrections, and then we vote on the most likely lyric on any given "issue" until it's resolved).

I just refused to do anything with that album or endorse it in any way. I still hate it with a passion. I did put it on the other night and try to listen. It was like having teeth pulled while giving birth at the same time. or something pretty close. haha

lol Rainbow Children can be a very hard to swallow, lyrical atrocity to a lot of folks. Some think it's a the aural equivalent to the Second Coming.

I always wondered why you were MIA for the transcription work.

Have you heard from Ted since 'Planet Earth' was completed?

I talked to Ted regularly. I'm not sure he even owns Lotus yet, but I did forward him a draft of all the lyrics from all 3 albums. I'll have to light a fire under him soon.

Here's my thoughts:

Verses: Big City Remix of "The Good Life"
Chorus: Shoo-Bed-ooh

In fact, it might've well on NewPowerSoul.

It wouldn't be the first time Prince's people were on my ass about something. I welcome it for round 2.
