That's because Prince was using the Linn as a source of inspiration back then. He'd play something and build a song around a sound. On MPLSound, he's adding it almost as an after thought, thinking it'll satisfy those fans who said (again) that he's lost his sound. Gee, that story sounds familiar...

Musicology is the CD that got me into Prince. Always has a place in my soul. Front to back, great tracks.

Since it first came out, its my least favourite album out of all them always found it very bland. to me it always sounds like he wasnt there when he recorded it like he was in the next room or something.
There are some great track titles and ideas there especially Musicology, illusion coma pimp & circumstance but sounds all empty the worse one got to be life o' the party-i dont hear no party i just dont get it. Saying that i do think musicology sounds good live. FUNKNROLL! "February 2014, wow". 'dre.

Musicology is not very bad. Planet earth is the only cd I never listen to. It's really crap to my opinion. Thanks to lotusflow3r I started listen to older songs again. recently I played the scanalous sex suite again, the 18min version of scandalous really is fantastic. doens't bore for a minute.

I disliked Musicology intensely at first, until 3121 dropped which I loathed with a passion.
There's a handful of worthy tracks on Musicology. I see Reflection as a second cousin to Circle of Amour. What Do U Want Me 2 Do always reminds me of something that should be on Off The Wall. And the title track is kinda fun - although it's since been bettered with the far superior Ol' Skool Company. It's still one of his weakest albums though,

Thank God we are all differant in our experiances therefore we are differant in our likes and dislikes. I listen to Musicology at least 2x's a week. I walk and it's in my headset. I have been a Prince fan for more years than I can count, I have seen him come full circle. He has done well.

Seems I hear it at least once a week; it's one of the six discs in the changer in my vehicle along with TRC, 3121, PE, ONA Live and N.E.W.S. - and now rotating in Lotusflowe3r on the ipod hookup http://prince.org/msg/105/307615

Ive been listening to Musicology a lot lately. Awesome album. Didnt listen to Call My Name for a while there so it hit me again after revisiting this album. Such a great ballad.
Musicology, to me, is a classic Prince song already lol. A Million Days, really, i would have to say is my fav song on the album. Dear Mr. Man....smooth plastic funk. Wish that one went on a little longer with that horn solo. Reflection....so poetic....love it! The album i feel at this moment is slightly better than Planet Earth but behind Lotusflow3r & 3121 I believe in horns!

Although I did listen it to around Christmas last year and I enjoyed it more than remember, it's not a great album. Please. I listed four serious grievances, and yet you focus on that one? Maybe he agreed with your other grievances? I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

I really really really really really like call my name off of Musicology. I definitely enjoyed Musicology better than his last few albums. Lotusflow3r is really growing on me, though. brickhouse boys: http://www.myspace.com/brickhouseboys

The other week when I was trawling the back catalog to make a 00's compilation for someone. Needless to say nothing from this LP made the cut.

A few weeks ago. I remember when I bought it, I listened to it and didn't want to listen to it immediately again, which was unusual for me.
It's a good album, not great, but good IMO 3121... Don't U Wanna Come?
