I can only understand snippets, there's much "slang" speech in there...is there a consecutive story, are they related to each other? I like track #7

they're comedy skits that are sort of vaguely related to the songs they appear beside.

I thought that was kinda funny.

There's lots of stuff in his music that is very funny, those two examples are just fresh in my mind cuz I was listening to those cds in the car today.

And IMO, the Mashed Potato Girl segue from EXodus is very funny, I didn't dig any of the other segues though.

Just listen to Work That Fat -- pretty much sums up Prince's sense of humor when it relates to weight.

One of my first intros to Prince's humor was in the extended version of Kiss -- the married couple (Sophie and Sol) in the background. Great stuff!

they're funny the first few times, but after that, it's a waste of space. there was actual music left in the vault that should have been on here instead. not much of it's really as good as what's on the album, but it would be better than segues. or just forget them and replacing them altogether.

For me, I've always loved the segues and the album as a whole - it was, and remains, a great piece of work.

i dunno dude, i like the album as a single piece of work, including the segues. the comedic breaks are a rest from the tension in the rest of the songs. it works for me.

At the time I saw it as part of the trend of pop/R&B albums where there was a segue between every track. Some of the bravado and forced camaraderie obviously hasn't aged well at all, but there's some good laughs there too, the whole Mashed Potato Girl thing is still really funny.

Personally I loved and still love these moments on the exodus album.

Particularly 'hit him so hard, change fell out his pockets'. That still makes me belly laugh

Movie Star is funny from start to finish, as are Cloreen Bacon Skin and Bob George (especially when he makes fun of himself).

The NPG segues are funny, but they're overused and really make the Exodus album (as a whole) less accessible and actually kinda ghetto-ish.

After all that smack-talk, I just listened to Exodus. Return Of The Bumpsquad is one of the funkiest things he's released.
