Yes, Because per "HITS DAILY DOUBLE's (Not Billboard's) count, he was #1 when the #'s were completed. There were other charts that had Prince at #1 as well...smile

April 15

Plunging 2-9 is Prince's Target exclusive triple-disc set "Lotus Flow3r/MPLSound/Elix3r" (NPG). The collection, which includes one-disc from Prince protégé Bria Valente dips 60% to 66,000.

60% is very, very good for an album with no singles out. There are dozens of albums that have a more than 70% drop even with a hit single in the airwaves.

Exactly. The Billboard charts are tallied from the actual number of sales provided by Soundscan. Only a Prince fan would suggest that they're less accurate than HDD's estimates. They are projections, nothing more.

It's really scary knowing some people have latched onto the conspiracy theory that data from Soundscan, a computerized system for tracking retail music sales, has been compromised to report less units sold for Lotusflow3r.

Its Prince's career and he does whatever he wants to do, if he wants to release single w/o a video or not release singles for the songs radio has added to their playlist! Its his career and his business...

The album did what it was suppose to do.
Just like Lotus Flow3r, he promoted the cd with 3 shows in l.a. and 3 performances on leno, not to mention hooked up with Target to have an outlet for the music and they provided some promos themselves for the product, now if the album fizzles away from the charts, trust me, Prince didn't release the project for the charts. He released it to get his new music out there and there was enough attention to draw for it.

end of story

The album's been out for 2 weeks, why are you calling it a flop? It's still on the top 10.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Copy Cat, your stupid!
Prince never releases his cd's for the dumb charts.
He said it back in 1998, he isn't worried about charts any longer, this is why he faught so hard to get free from record labels, because music is more important to him, than charts or selling 10 million albums, he's been there and done that!

PS- The album isn't a flop!

and just because it was posted on DR. Funkenburst's site doesn't mean Prince posted it. Ppl are so childish these days, Prince is 50 F-ing years old, why would he worry about bubble gum charts.

Of course he's a musician and pop star who has been in the spot light forever, but there comes a time when real artists get tired of playing the game and just wants to release music because they love what they do.

If the album went in at 168 on the charts, I don't think he'd lose any sleep, but he wanted to promote it with leno and the 3 shows in l.a. to spread the word, now he's not doing much, because he's done his job now.

but that's one article posted after the fact. to release a cd for chart i would imagine he would do alot more to push it out there for sale purpose. i'm still shocked it charted the way it did even though they are not big numbers. prince is probably surprised himself. lol

I dont think Prince cares if this album aint getting played on the radio. I mean, he only released the album @ Targets. I dont even think the album has a single.
