This is really tough cause I've always loved 3121 but I think Lotusflow3r/MPLSound has taken over that spot for #1 but 3121 is a very close #2. I'm with daPrettyman, PE is in last place. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

3121 Lotus/MPLS Musicology (barely rates at all, it's dreadful) compared to PE? Not in my book. I happen to like some of the songs on PE, but as an album, it's horrible. To me, Musicology did what it was supposed to do...put him back in the mainstream spotlight. 3121 was supposed to be an album that showed he was still good and had talent. He also wanted a HIT, but it failed to live up to the expectations. I feel PE was thrown together for the UK Mail On Sunday promotion. The album has no direction. It's just a compilation of songs. At least Lotus, MPLSOUND and Elixer have some direction and overall feel. PE was missing that to me. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Totally disagree. I think PE has a definite sound and direction, and is more pop friendly that Musicology. Things like "If I Were The man In Your Life", "On the Couch", "Pimp Illusions Coma whatever"....those are NOT radio friendly songs. But things like "Guitar" (Verizon, hello, great lead single), "I'm the 1 U Wanna C" are great rock songs. Pure pop/rock. Then you have the ballads like S.H.O.E. that really take a nod from old school Prince ballads, a bit. Even as much as "Future Baby mama" is panned by fans, it WAS on Urban radio a lot, and it was never a single. It's like the "Adore" of it's time. Not that it's LIKE "Adore", but I mean that "Adore" was picked up by urban stations back then too, and it was never a single. If he'd played his cards right, he could have gotten the title track played on some Earth Day commercial or something like that. Something to put it out there even more. 21 nights in London is nice, but how does that promote an album when you're not even playing the songs from the CD in the 21 shows much?

For me it's:
1) Lotus/MPLS. 2) A tie for 3121 and Planet Earth. I skip a few and love a few on each of those. 3) Musicology. Yes, it's a cohesive collection but Apart from a couple of tracks, it never hits any real highs for me. Probably my least listened to P album since NPS. RIP

I agree with you that FBM, Guitar, The One U Wanna C, etc. are good songs, but to me, the album had no direction. I like certain songs....just not them grouped together as an album. Songs like Lion of Judah, PE, and Resolution just don't fit together and that makes the album not sound like a cohesive piece of work. Musicology did give Prince his biggest r&b hit since TMBGITW (Call My Name). That is still getting played today. Great song!. To me, Musicology was a way of saying he's still Prince to the masses. He knew how to be funky (ICPC, Musicology), he still was concerned with social issues (Dear Mr. Man) and he still knew how to tell a story (Reflection). To me, it's not about what sounds good on the radio or what's a pop hit, it's about the material as a whole and how each song comes together to make a complete album/statement. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

BWWWHAHAHAHA NPS is nothing like any of the other two NPG albums, although it rates better than Goldnigga, but Exodus crushes both of them. Planet Earth is a full on, very good Prince album. I'd still nix "Lion of Judah" though.
