Darshy

The other nite, sent the chocolate box video link to BBC6 dj Chris Hawkins who was asking what Q-tip tunes he should play. I got the following reply:-

'Hi Darshan,

Excellent! Nice tip off, thanks mate,

Chris'

As we rarely get responses from radio dj's, make ur Princely requests to Chris Hawkins by emailing to:-

chris.hawkins@bbc.co.uk or

chris.6music@bbc.co.uk

Goes without saying, you can listen to digital station BBC 6 Music online

Sirius and XM are the same company now. So the programming is the same. They still try to have separate programming, but you can upgrade ur account to get everything on both services.

I preferred XM over Sirius, especially for the Urban programming. I miss The Rhyme. I miss Miss Kitty and Chase Daniels.

If they had a Prince and P related station I'd sign up in a heartbeat.

I'm surprised they don't. I'd keep an eye, though - they have a Springsteen one, they've had a Rolling Stones one, AC/DC, etc., etc. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they launched a Prince channel any time now. Sometimes these one-artist channels are for a few months, but some of them (e.g. the Springsteen one) are indefinite.

I don't know if that's 100% true, and I believe you have to pay a surcharge to get extra channels. I would still say go for the "SIRIUS" base, if you have to choose.

If you want everything on both services, you can upgrade, but a lot of the channels that were similar "merged" and some channels were added to both services.

For instance, Oprah was only on XM originally, but when the merger took place, they added it to both. Same for Jamie Foxx's channel.

Also, XM's 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s channels were added to Sirius, while Heart and Soul replaced Suite 62 on XM. The Rhyme was deleted on XM, was later replaced by another hip-hop channel that I can't recall now.

So, there were lots of modifications done to both services to combine into one. There are only a few stations that I think are exclusive to each service. I know Martha Stewart and Howard Stern are exclusive to Sirius still, though.

There are, just as there was on XM. When the merger took place, Sirius' urban programming replaced XM's except for The Groove and one or 2 more that I can't remember.

When the companies were separate, XM's programming sounded unconventional to me. They didn't hesitate playing new or obscure music. They also focused on feature stories and programming. Sirius' programming didn't really do it that way. They are all about playing music with little to no talk. Also, Sirius repeated songs over and over again on the urban side and they sounded like any other local station (to me).

When the merger happened, almost all of XM's urban staff was canned and Sirius' came in. I hated that, but that is radio for you.

Does SiriusXM have a station like JACK(in Mpls its Jack 104.1)?
I really like the mix of songs on there. Not enough Prince, but who does?

If they had a Prince and P related station I'd sign up in a heartbeat.

Thanks...it's been a while but i think i got it from a jim henson website. Pretty easy to find. I grew up on the Muppets every night with the whole family watching. We all had our favorites and Animal was mine. It was super cool to see Prince do Muppets Tonight for me and my little sister-also a big fan of his tunes.
