If I Was Your GirlFriend - normal voice Well, I've been playing with this song and I was like "how does it sounds in normal, non-camille voice"..so, I edited it in Goldwave, after few attemps I have found I need to set the pitch 3 semitones down to hear normal Prince voice and it sounds...interesting! (Sorry for my english, I'm not native speaker)

My highest priority would be with "If was ur g/f" of course Susan Rogers, his engineer at the time, told her account of hearing this song being recorded. Prince all by himself in the studio, at the switchboard with the microphone in front of him, nobody else behind the glass, the people just waiting outside the door for him to finish. She said that there was such screams and beautiful vocals going through the door that everyone could hear. And supposedly, the distorted sound you hear in the back-up vocals was her fault, so she was feeling guilty when she heard what happened. Luckily, Prince ok'd it I'd LOVE to hear some of those beautiful vocals at normal speed. Distorted or not they're all Prince at perhaps his best vocal peformance had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

It would be interesting to hear what those songs sound like with a "normal" voice. I wonder, in messing with the voice, doesn't that mess with the notes on the songs so that it sounds like a whole new song or does technology make it to where the song stays the same even while playing with the voices? I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Wow. Thanks Supa and PEJ. This makes me wanna hear those songs in a normal tone even more now. Lately, I don't listen to so-called "old Prince" that much (this was before Lotusflow3r) but I would be more than willing to do it just to get a new fresh perspective on those songs. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I don't have any of the songs altered but back when I had all this on vinyl I used to play them at the different speed all the time. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I noticed that his background vocals are slowed down so I wonder what this would sound like with his voice at normal speed, would it make the background vocals slower?

The murderer of John Lennon was listening to sped-up Beatles music before he killed Lennon. He said the music became angelic voices instructing him what to do.
I'd say, no sane mind would go and play with the recording speeds to alter the listening experience from what the artist intended.

I'd say, no sane mind would go and play with the recording speeds to alter the listening experience from what the artist intended. If that's the case then no sane artist (Prince) would change the lyrics to the songs as it changed what he originally intended True music freaks do everything. Back in the day when you made mix tapes you messed with all kinds of things. It's called creativity. Hello! Hearing the Camille tracks at normal pitch is an interesting curiosity, but nothing more.
The thing that really puts the cherry on top of IIWYGF especially is the sped-up vocal.

Any live performance of this song would be in Prince's "normal" voice.
I really like hearing this song live. The last time (at Nokia Theater), Prince asked everyone in the audience to dance side-to-side, and of, course, we all did.
